Paragraph 1: Career Target. Describe the job that you feel is ideal for you right now. One that matches your qualifications, meets your salary and work environment expectations, and provides a challenging opportunity. (You may have more than one in mind but focus on one job for this assignment.) Paragraph 2: Stretch Target. Describe the “hard-to-get” dream job that you would like to get in the future. It might be one that is highly competitive, has exceptional salary benefits packages, or is in another desirable location.
Paragraph 3: Contingency Target. Describe your “back-up plan.” This job would be one you could easily get; it could even be one for which you are overqualified or for which you have a reliable, available contact. It is your “safe bet” and not your first choice for salary or work environment.
For the past three years I have been employed as a clinical research Coordinator at a clinical trial site and this is, without a doubt, the ideal job for me. To work as a CRC one must have background knowledge in the medical field, be very organized, and must have the ability to multi-task. These are a few of my strong suits. The salary is competitive and allows me to spend and save according to my financial plan. The work environment is stressful at times, due to the amount of attention a single study may require, but it is also very interesting and rewarding. My dream job is to be a Clinical Trial Manager. CTM’s are responsible for the planning and implementation of clinical trial protocols and the oversight of clinical trial progress. CTM’s have direct authority over Clinical Research Associates and often liaise with clinical trial sites.
The Review on Job Design and Work Diversity
Introduction In the current business environment, human resource management (HRM) has become an important role for an organisation. HRM refers to the policies, practices, and systems that influence employees’ behaviour, attitudes, and performance (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2010). It is important because HRM helps the company to achieve the goals and improve employee’s performance. ...
A CTM position typically requires a minimum of five years of experience working in clinical research with at least two of those years spent working as a Clinical Research Associate. Two of the primary reasons this would be my “Stretch Target” job are the salary and the location. The income is upwards of 100k and the job is home based with little to no travel time. Within the next two years I intend to begin work as a Clinical Research Associate. This is the natural career progression of a CRC and is the main reason I am enrolled at LUO. This job requires a bachelor’s degree that I must obtain prior to applying. Clinical Research Associates work directly with clinical trial sites to ensure understanding of the clinical trial protocol and to verify the quality of data collected.
Several of the CRA’s that I work with have offered to recommend me for entry level positions and I have even been approached by pharma companies for open positions. The salary in this position is also competitive but the job requires a great deal of travel and there is no guarantee that you will be regionally based. This is not ideal for me. Typically a CRA is required to be “on-site” approximately eight days a month. However, this does not include the days spent traveling. The remainder of the days are home based. This is the position that I expect to hold for two years prior to applying for CTM positions.
