This is the first journal I have ever worked on since taking the EMBA program at UiTM Shah Alam. I am applying for admission to the Executive Master in Business Administration program because I wish to further develop my career in my current work organization. Writing about myself, my experience during the past five weeks on managerial accounting course in a journal, has been a far different experience compared to doing a usual essay in the past.
In particular, I am interested in factors that affect the company performance of a business concerned, and the manner in which of decision making concepts, long-term business strategies, distribution network, information needs and standard systems. In order to gain an appreciation of these and related issues, it is essential for me to have a strong grounding of the subjects given and one of it is Managerial Accounting.
I believe that the EMBA program in Business Administration would be invaluable in helping me achieve these objectives. It would enable me to channel my quantitative and conceptual skills in analysing business issues and would open up new avenues in exploration.
It has been a time consuming process needing much focus and commitment. At first, I thought everything would be straight forward and that I could manage my time, but it was hard to juggle between my work and family commitments. In order to prioritise this ACC720 course, I took a short period of time out from work and held back from family and friends events.
The Business plan on Bar Net System Program Time
The experts at HayCo Consulting have developed and implemented an automated time collection and processing system for the Lubbock Police Department. The system is currently being marketed as the HayCo Automated Labor Distribution System. A LDS includes a custom touch screen overtime / comp time reporting application and a four-tiered supervisor and administrator client / server interface program. ...
To keep myself on track I constructed action plans. As it is a short period of time for every subject, at the beginning of each week I would make a daily plan of what I hoped to achieve and how I would do it. I then ticked off each task as achieved. This helped me achieve smaller goals within the assignments, test and group project. So throughout this process I have learnt to be self-disciplined, organised and become better at time management. These are clearly needed for future employment.
Managerial Accounting is an important subjects that suite with a management accountant in the workplace. As part of the OPUS Group Berhad which is one of the subsidiaries of UEM Group Berhad, I was responsible to prepare financial budgeting and forecasting of our current project which is the Kelana Jaya (KLJ) and Ampang (AMG) LRT Extension Projects.
The Managerial Accounting course gives me the tools I need to succeed, whether as an accountant or other career paths. As part of it, Managerial Accounting guides me on various contents which are Cost Concepts for Decision Making, Decision-Making Concepts, Planning and Control Concepts as well as Performance Evaluation Concepts. I believe that my background in accounting both in Diploma and Degree has prepared me for such a career.
I have learnt a lot on my present job. With the rest of my team, I have prepared financial forecasts and Annual Operating Plans for the whole period of the project; from 2009 until 2017. At the same time, this course has helped me on how to organize and be well prepared at critical situations at the beginning of each year when preparing for the budget.
First thing first, I am very honoured to have a very dedicated, calm and sporting lecturer like Dr Ridzwan Bakar. He has taught me the very basic things about Managerial Accounting, as well as discussions on internal and external issues of the company’s crisis in Malaysia in regards with financial and managerial matters.
From day one, I remembered that it is not easy to recall all that I have learnt during my diploma and degree tenure. I know that my team members such as Fendi, Liana, Anwar, Azmir and others team members will help me whenever I am faced with difficult situations. That’s what friends are for.

My first class was on 26 October 2013. We have discussed several topics such as Job Order Costing, Activity-Based Costing, Cost-Volume Profit, Budgetary Planning as well as Statement of Cash Flows. I have learnt a lot during this precious and short period of time. The important thing that I have learnt is whatever we do, it must be sincerely deep from our heart and indeed it is because of Allah.
The time limitation on each exercise has taught me to plan well, work systematically and keep my project group presentation slide up-to-date. Why I say so? Because the biggest part of this course is that we have to present our project group to the whole class. With the rest of my team, we have discussed and analysed which industry and what company we are to embark on. Upon much deliberation, we finally decided to do Food and Beverages for the service industry, which we agreed to reveal the financial analysis from the Starbucks Coffee and Dunkin’ Brands of companies.
Each of us has their own tasks. Fendi and I will calculate ratios for both companies. Liana will bring up the Swot analysis also for both companies. Azmir will find out what is the best benchmarking that can we use, as well as an industry overview. Finally our IT executive, Anwar will do the video clip of Starbucks Coffee and Dunkin’ Brands. From this analysis we will know which is the best company that will be worth to invest by the investors.
The presentation went well even though we expected that we would be late to the class. One hour before presentation, one of my group members had his car tyre punctured along the federal highway. Luckily, Fendi and I were on the same route to class. Fendi lent a hand to change the tyre.
During the class, we did plenty of exercises and past year questions. Some of the questions may not familiar to some of my friends. Generally we are from different backgrounds. Some of us from human resources background, others are from engineering and technical background and the rest from banking and finance profession. Dr Ridzwan in whatever ways will help us to understand and manage to answer it correctly.
Started University Time Work Make
I never realised how important time is until I started university. Getting the best out of you studies in university is forgoing one thing for another. (opportunity cost). When I first started university I was working full time. As time went by I realised that I just could not cope, so I decided to work part-time while studying. I can now cope better with my school work load and can produce a ...
In some classes and discussions, some of us vary greatly in the ways they learn and think. While some love to debate a point abstractly, others need to ground concepts in their own experience; some work best in groups, while others need to work alone; some need specific, concrete tasks, while others need the freedom to investigate on their own; some work best verbally, others visually.
The primary goal in any discussion is to enhance the understanding of a common topic. Discussion in class involves the sharing of ideas, information, experience, reactions, and opinions. Furthermore it gives an interesting experience while we are doing presentation on group project. The arguments basically show how we expressed our knowledge about those industries.
The content is the most obvious component of any oral presentation. After all, if you are talking, you had better have something worthwhile to say. But an oral presentation, no matter how well-written, is only as effective as its delivery. That is how we are doing to improve our skill of communication. Mostly important, everything we need to know to deliver awesome presentations.
Truly, this is the best experienced that I ever have during this five weeks of class. I believe the knowledge I have received or may receive from lecturers and books do not belong to me; that it is committed to me only in trust; that it still belongs and always will belong to the humanity which produced it through all the generations. I believe it is my duty to administer it singly for the good of other societies either to my friends or in the current work organization, to the end that the people may become more knowledgeable and better understanding.
The friendships that I made at class are indescribable. Meeting many preeminent people with the same goals and ambitions as me made this experience so much more enjoyable. I was surrounded by an ever cheerful and accepting friends that supported each other at all times. I am also now connected to a network of thousands of other friends through “Whatsapp” instant messages and emails that are ready and willing to help me further in my study.
Time flies faster than expected. Nevertheless, I am trying to fill my time with doing more exercises before the final exams. Even though it is not a new experience for me facing this managerial accounting exam, I hope I can manage to get good results at the end of the semester. Insha’Allah.

While the study in business administration is my prime objective today, my interests in literature, Islamic usrah, travel and nature help me maintain a sense of perspective in life. I believe that everything we do is for the sake of Allah. Insha’Allah everything is going to be okay.
I wish to express my gratitude to Dr. Ridzwan Bakar, who has helped me to give an in-depth perspective in managerial accounting. I am also very grateful to my group members who have kindly helped me with great efficiency for our group project and all the case studies. I also want to thank all my friends for their encouragement. Hope to see you in next module. Insha’Allah.
