The Consolidation of School Districts
I believe it would be a good idea for the Pottstown and Pottsgrove school districts to consolidate. Important people like senators and governors agree with the idea to consolidate school districts. Merging school districts could benefit students in a positive way. The merging of school districts can also benefit taxpayers. The first state-ordered consolidation of school districts in the state of Pennsylvania was called on February 4.
Governor Rendell called for the order and said that fewer districts would mean a lighter local tax burden on property owners. A lighter local tax burden will help those property owners to save and spend money on more important things. Senator Dominic Pileggi believes that having more districts is an inefficient way to deliver educational services across the state. Robert Hartman, member of the Pottstown School Board, brought the matter to Pottstown and no longer wants to wait for a consolidation. These people spend a large amount of time on topics like this and have a better understanding of the situation. I can trust their decisions with merging school districts together.
Merging school districts would allow schools to operate more efficiently. Teachers must learn to deal with larger classes and can not allow any student to feel left out. The merging of school districts will have teachers take their job more seriously because the size of their classes and they must make sure that what they are teaching gets across to all the students in their class rooms. Districts have concluded that the costs of merging outweigh the benefits, but cost can’t be compare with the benefit of a better education. Merging districts can also help students find friends. A larger amount of students within a district will allow students to find people they fit in best with.
The Term Paper on A Uniform Code School Uniforms Students
A Uniform Code School uniforms, once a symbol of prestigious private academies, have gone public. Since President Clinton's 1996 State of the Union Address, in which he endorsed school uniforms, the trend toward restricting student dress as a means of controlling violence has come front and center in the national debate. Alarmed by increased youth violence, a perceived breakdown of discipline, and ...
In addition with benefiting students, merging school districts could also benefit taxpayers and property owners. Programs offered in one district would have to be made available throughout the newly merged districts, putting taxpayer’s money in good use. Merged districts would need to hire additional central-office staff to oversee programs, another example of putting taxpayer’s money in good use. Attorney Paul Prince told Pottsgrove board that a merger with Pottstown would save money and would require fewer facilities. With both districts working collaboratively, taxpayers can save up to $20 million.
At one time Pottstown included the surrounding Pottsgrove Township, OJR and even some who would now go to Spring-Ford. I believe the splitting of these schools was pointless and a big waste of money. These important people’s belief, the benefits for students, and the benefits for taxpayers are a good enough reason to consolidate the two school districts. Like Robert Hartman said “instead of waiting for the state to come in, why don’t we broach the topic ourselves and do it while it’s in our power?
