The date was the 26th day in the month of mars, the month seemed appropriate for what was about to happen. About a year ago I was a simple former solider and baker, with a wife and kids and a small little shop. It was a big deal for people that were former soldiers in my town to become gladiators, but that wasn’t what I wanted to do. I had found a slave about four years ago and about 3 years ago I set her free and married her. Me and her settled down in a small house on the outskirts of Pompeii and started our own little bakery.

The day was Martius 26 72, and I had been a gladiator for over a year now. It had been 429 days since I saw my wife, and I was starting to go insane with rage. I was usually a bestiarii but today I was supposed to be in a fight as a Dimachaeri since I was a sword specialist back when I was in the military. They decided to put me in a match versus the famous Scissores Geta; little did they know I was once good friends with Geta. I and Geta fought side by side back in the warring days, he was my general, but also they didn’t know that I was the only person to ever beat Geta in a fight.
The doors opened and the crowd began to cheer. I looked into the middle of the arena and there Geta was standing. As I walked towards him he began recognizing who I was, “Demicuius!!” he yelled. “Geta!!” I yelled with a friendly attitude, as I yelled that a program came falling down from the stands. It read “See the famous Geta and newcomer Demicuius fight against the strongest duo the arena has ever seen “The Nex addo”. This took me by surprise “I was under the impression we were fighting each other” I said to Geta. “I was to “replied Geta “I have heard of them, they ride horses against there on foot opponents usually killing them in the end”. This worried me, at that very moment images of my wife and kids popped into my head. I was scared, very scared, I turned to Geta “Just like the old days huh?” he said to me in a calm tone. The opposing doors opened and out came two fully armored men, tall dark skinned with a strong stocky build, riding on horses so dark that you couldn’t tell were the horse ended and the shadow began. The only thing in this arena that was scary than the 8 foot tall fire breathing horses were our opponents, the men riding them.

The Nex addo were legendary for their fierce attitude and skillful tactics. We were at a disadvantage on many levels, but were at an advantage on one thing, determination to win. The first of the brothers charged while the other one drafted right behind him like a pair of chariots moving into an opposing phalanx, brandishing there spears on opposite sides so that we would get struck ether way we rolled. My first reaction happens to be Geta’s too, run! We turned and darted as fast as we could to the walls of the arena, barley making it there before the first horse reached us. Geta turned as the second horse passed by and slashed one of the great beasts of Poseidon with the tip of his blade, making the massive horse rear and buck. I turned as the first horseman turned to turn and charge from a blindside tactic slashing and stabbing with his glistening spear. Riding the side of the wall i noticed the horseman “Geta to the right” I yelled at Geta, I turned and ran head on at the horse rolling out of the way just at the very moment before impact, as I turned and stabbed the back leg of the horse all the way threw, making the horse fall to the ground taking his rider with him. As this happen I noticed the second horseman was charging towards Geta, who now had his back to the horseman.
“Geta now!!” I yelled hoping he would remember a tactic from our old days. He smiled and dropped to the ground making the horse react in a way natural to his species, jump! As the horse jumped Geta rolled over and slashed the belly of the second horse, killing it the second it landed.

This was a great moment the, governor thought, for us to take a break. “Thank Saturn” Geta said in a sarcastic tone. We walked back into the back room, immediately as we walked back there we were rushed my all the fellow gladiators and doctors tending to our wounds. Outside we could hear the next event going on, the killing of the Christians. It didn’t last long, only about enough time for us to get some water. Then we were back out to continue our fight from before. The Nex addo this time didn’t come out on horses, they came out on foot. Weilding a spear and a shield with almost no armor we can tell this was gonna be a challenge far different than the one before.
The now on foot Nex addo dashed at us full speed we reacted by moving to the sides at the last moment, they predicted this. Tyrus the younger of the two brothers came at me, he had crouched down, holding his shield facing up as if he were using it block a northern wind, and driving his spear from underneath his shield. I didn’t see this coming and took a bad nick to my left arm, luckily I reacted fast enough to hit his spear away long enough for me to get behind him and hit his lower back with the tip of my sword driving it almost all the way through. At this point he knew he was going to be defeated so as a last resort he lashed his shield so fast around that is spans him in a full 180 degree motion, only as an attempt to gain full momentum in his spear. This attempt was feudal for the fact that he had already bled out enough to make him weak enough that he couldn’t barley hold his massive spear up. He fell over and took a deep breath. Without even asking the crowd yelled “kill him”, I took my sword and made Tyrus take his last breath.
Rufus, the older more experienced of the two brothers turned to Geta, Jumping into the air like a monkey thrusting his spear straight into the air of Geta’s breath. Geta reacted fast moving to the side of Rufus ramming his shoulder into Rufus’ ribs. Collapsing to the ground the now out of breath Rufus quickly strategized to cut Geta’s Achilles tendons. Geta falls to the ground with a loud grunt, “GETA!!!” I yelled as I ran at Rufus brandishing my swords. Quickly swinging my swords at the fallen getas rival, he quickly ducked and stabbed his spear into my already wounded arm. Geta, now laying down from wounded achellies tendons, slashed the shins of rufus’ legs. At that very moment I quickly rush the spear farther into me just to get close enough to run my swords threw rufus heart.
