Independent India : Emergence of a new women
The recent attack on girls and young women in a pub In Bangalore on the eve of valentine day celebration by a hindu outfit called ‘ram sena’(Of course ! for it’s this evil deed it better deserves to be called Ravan sena) deeply hurt our honorable Minister of women and child welfare . Hence the exasperated minister rebuked this attack vociferously with her overwhelming remark that this incident has marked the beginning of an era of talibans in our society .
Unfortunately, for such ,so called ‘sarcastic’ remarks, the hon’ble minister had to face a contempt suit, filed by the city mayor of Bangalore .
Not only this, the furious minister invoked the valentine celebrators with the slogan of ‘pub bharo’ ,further so that the nefarious design of these conservative outfits to malign the girls and women could be countered better .
This reaction by hon’ble minister and other social Women speaks volumes about the renaissance that has dawned on our new age woman of our Indian society .
Definitely Our woman has gone a complete revolution in her attitude AND IN her APPROACH in the previous 60 years of independence .
To day’s woman is equally assertive and believes in expressing herself .
Let us have a peek on her journey from pre-independent to post-independent India.
Our Indian woman during the freedom struggle took their fight not only against the British but also against other many social evils which were rampant in the society in those times . One of the such evil against which these brave ladies fought valiantly was Drinking
The Essay on A Womans Role In Society Is Primarily That Of A Wife And Mother Do You Agree
A womans role is primarily that of a wife and a mother do you agree? The big debate about a womans role, and place in the society has been going on for a long time, and is still continuing. Women have been fighting to be able to stand on the same podium as men for over decades of years. However, I do agree with the given statement that the primary role of women in the society is to be a wife and a ...
. This is the evil that haunted those woman to their plight since time immemorial. Which not only robbed her households of its peace and tranquility but sometimes robbed her of even her last penny . At innumerable times it usurped the hard earned money saved by these housewives to meet the contingencies and emergencies. For the simple reason that the die hard drinkers of the family or MCP’S DRIVEN BY Their URGE OF DRINKING by flexing their muscles on these helpless housewives made them to cough up even the last penny of their saving JUST only to buy their daily quota of bottle thus leaving these ladies ruined ,marooned ,penniless and totally at loss .
Moreover her perils didn’t end here , because by further squirting dirty slangs and by further bashing her on trivial issues THAT wretch (i.e.her hubby that transformed into a monster after having quaffed this evil drink ) only used to aggravate her hellsome ordeal to its worst . Her piteous laments to Almighty soaked with tears like “ sunle pukar aii ,aaj tere dwar leke asuon ki dhar , mere saanwere ….”also proved to be of no avail.
Finally , she WAS enlightened that it is not her penury that has robbed her home of its peace and prosperity but it is this evil drink only, which, by bringing about the destruction on her household happiness, has reduced her to nothing but a miserable plight. Therefore, she started nursing grudge against all the bottles that contained Alchololic drinks because it had made her life a living Hell and with that she now gave serious thought on to way out for her emancipation from such untold calamities.
Sore distressed and greatly troubled in heart , finally she found a glimmer of hope in the Augustus gatherings of the Bapu which were held incessantly across the several cities in those times.
Bapu was also moved deeply on discerning the perils of these women and that’why ,In all his addresses , he invariably and vehemently reiterated his firm conviction that by merely driving away the british from Indian soil without ridding the country of the evils like drinking and untouchablility will not be enough in building a strong and prosperous India.
The Essay on Lady Macbeth A Woman Before Her Time
During the Elizabethan era, the great chain of being reigned. Women were low on this chain of power, and men were on top. In fact, women were below horses; you couldnt live without a good horse, but, you could live without a wife. Lady Macbeth was a woman before her time, she was caught between being todays ambitious, powerful modern woman and a fragile creature of the Elizabethan era. In the ...
He vociferously invoked the women of all the classes to unite themselves against the intoxicating drinks and its trade and he also evoked them to do their best in eliminating this evil of drinking from our society in totality. After getting inspiration from Bapu these women now went on rampage spree , and staged picketing and demonstration in front of these shops and by wrecking and ransacking these shops with all her means , protested violently against the drinks .
Moreover many illustrious and distinguished ladies, including those belonging to congress party ,came forward to fight this evil with the solemn pledge that given the chance to come in power ,they ,by prohibiting this drink will completely uproot this sinful evil of drinking from the country after independence .
After the independence, our women rapidly picked up her pace with their male counterparts and touched new Wuthering heights in every field .
Astonishingly with her progress a roundabout turn in her attitude towards the alcoholic drink was also perceived in a very gradual manner .Moreover that , with the passage of time, her grudge and animosity towards this drink started fading.
Interestingly Later on , she realized that it is rather impractical and infeasible to keep away these drinks from our society any longer.
And it no longer was remained a surprise that those women (baptized with the strong gandhian values ) who used to antagonize this drink previously are now proliferating the same by ensuring ubiquity of these drinks in our country through increased trading outlets of the same in the states ruled by them.
Let us go through an example
Everybody knows that , it was a man PM (a STAUNCH Follower OF Gandhiji’s philosophy and ideals) who considering the liquors as the most detestable drink on the earth brought whole of the country under the prohibition and thus did his best in eradicating this evil of drinking from the country but soon it was a woman ( incumbent) PM (who was also baptized with the strong Gandhian values ,equally ) quashed the statuary orders of prohibition sportingly and that too without any iota of hesitation and by restoring glory to the this drink set the pledge of the woman taken in pre independence era at the naught .
The Essay on Women Are Evil
Most women in history have had a hard time being taken seriously. A lot of ladies have fought to change that. We’re not talking about those women here in the present. We’re talking about the women in history who haven’t done us any favors. The topic I come before you to present is one that even the greatest and powerful men fear. That, my friends, is the high levels of evil ...
However ,In support of above, it was argued that this move will only augment and flourish the country’s economy and therefore will give helping hand in removing poverty from our country up to some extent.
Ironically it can’t be held tenable, because of the well known fact that despite the promulgation of prohibition throughout in the country, the prices of edible commodities were brought to its lowest level with blooming economy in the tenure of previous govt. headed by a male PM .
Therefore, the cheap prices of the groceries like rice, sugar and wheat at throwaway prices became the lore of every house hold.
Henceforth, for the first time, millions of poverty stricken families had started partaking their meals FOR twice a day and that too to their Heart’s content .
Thus the erstwhile (male ) Govt. shattered the myth that sale of liquor and its proceeds contribute a lot in sustaining and in stemming a dwindling economy.
So now here rises a question which has constantly tormented the Gandhiji’s followers including women of substance of our society , who have previously vowed to follow undauntedly the Gandhi an values, is that why our woman rulers forgot the pangs and sufferings which were wrought upon their race by this drink in the past ? and most important question that remains unanswered is that, what made them to forget the pledge taken in the past by their preceptors and that too taken in the superintendence of Bapu of eliminating this drink from the independent India ? Moreover that, in spite of wielding boundless statutory powers to invoke prohibition why they are still flinching in promulgating a blanket ban on such an (so called ) evil drink?
Certainly, the post independence era has witnessed the emergence of a new woman having new vision with totally changed attitude.
