My Mind’s Eye
How you live your life is based on how you perceive yourself, and how you understand the whole concept of what your “life” is. Sometimes I question, if I really understand the true concept of my life. Do we really see things for what they truly are? Or are we living in a superficial world where everything is based off of appearances and expectations? We judge things based on what we see. We don’t really judge things based on the underlying messages but rather their outward appearances. To me, my life is composed of different factors that helped develop me into the person I am today. Factors like intrapersonal factors helps teach the individual to understand and accept oneself. Another factor would be interpersonal factors which teach us to accept others and understand them as individuals, as well as ethical factors which help reflect upon my own morals and how I view the concepts of my everyday life. The quote that fits my philosophical views of life is: “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.” This quote is by Henri Bergson, a French philosopher. One can only understand the world if they truly understand themselves first before understanding anything else.
I find that in order to truly see and understand the world before me, I must first know about myself. I often ask if I really understand who I truly am. The intrapersonal factors are important when trying to understand myself as well as my surroundings. These factors help me see my own perspective rather than someone else’s perspective. I am a creative yet somewhat laid-back and carefree person, I choose to take things at my own pace rather than rush straight towards them. I am an introverted person who would rather stay in the back and observe the world around them. I sometimes find other human beings fickle and hard to decipher but different and interesting. The quote implies to the individual that you must first understand yourself, before you begin to analyze someone or something in order to fully comprehend what you are truly seeing. I am like any other person; we have different lives and different views on the world and life itself. I am who I am based on my own experiences and the nurturing I have collectively received. I understand that I may be difficult and wrong at times but I too realize my flaws and the limits of my abilities. I know that my perspective on different matters is not the same as others and that I may lack in experience and knowledge in some areas, but I look forward to eliminate my ignorance. In order to start understanding yourself before understanding others, you must first realize your own position. Will you become what others see you as, or will you portray yourself as your own individual being? As for me, I know who I am within this massive world.
The Essay on School: Meaning of Life and World
Imagine a world where everything you believe is true, is actually a TV Show. Now you’re in the world of Truman Burbank, an ‘average’ person whose entire life is broadcasted to the world. Christof the director of the Truman show states that “We accept the reality of the world in which we are presented. ” This is a key issue in “The Truman Show” but does it apply to our real lives? Do we question ...
Within this vast world, there are others just like you and I. However, they are each uniquely different in thought and as individuals. As human beings, we tend to categorize people based on what first impressions. As human beings, we are vain and fickle when it comes to other people. As human beings we cannot help the fact that it is in our second nature to inherently judge someone. I view others based on how I know them and my experiences with them, not what others judge them as. How I view others is by starting my relationship with that individual as a blank canvas that slowly begins to develop into noticeable shapes, colours and shades until they develop into a unique and polished canvas. I illustrate my own image of someone based on how I know them, not what others see them as. “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend” fits perfectly as a representation of the interpersonal factors that affect me and how I view others and my relationships with them. I start off by figuring out who they are and their personalities. Everyone is inherently different no one is similar nor are they alike. I learn to accept them as they are; despite the flaws they may have and I acknowledge their differences and I try not to avidly mould them to my expectations. Interpersonal factors affect you in many ways, once you accept how you are yourself, you should learn to accept others for who they are, regardless if you like them or not. Trying to change someone’s personality in order to fulfil your own expectations of that person does not show that you truly comprehend the true nature of that person. I can only accept people for who they are, not for who they aren’t. As an individual, in order to fully comprehend yourself and others, you have to accept that as you breathe and live your everyday life your morals and perspectives are challenged by those around you. It is up to you to live up to your own expectations and perspectives as an individual.
The Essay on Life as a World War 1 Soldier
Life as a World War I Soldier Life as a soldier in World War I was no “walk in the park” for anyone involved. The soldiers fought through plenty of gruesome battles that altered their lives in great ways. On the other hand some soldiers were able to still find joy and humor in their lives. Your morals will be constantly questioned and challenged by other people, regardless of whom you are or where you are. Ethical factors of one’s life must remain strong and loyal to the individual. I am constantly challenged by my principles of life. I constantly question my life and if what I’m doing is morally right or if it’s wrong to my ethical code that I live by. Due to my carefree and laid-back attitude I generally accept things without question as I believe that they are here for a reason. I know that I am flawed, but so is everyone else; we are not perfect nor are we always right. We might sometimes slip up and do something that we regret, which is perfectly acceptable. We can differentiate what is right and wrong based on our judgements that we have learned and developed as we are shaped into who we are today. If I am ignorant and abide by what I see and become egocentric and indulge myself in my own personal needs I will not fully comprehend that everyone has different beliefs. I will not be who I am today if I do not acknowledge my flaws and my own position in life. Understanding my own perspective shows that I know that my life is my own, and my moral principles are different than others. I acknowledge the fact that what I might think is right; maybe wrong to another person. I can only truly understand what I am prepared to learn and comprehend without prejudiced thoughts.

I can only begin to understand my world if I truly begin to understand and accept myself first and then those around me. “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend” is the quote that represents my philosophical approach to my life. It takes different factors for oneself to truly understand their perspective on life and for them to realize the world before them. For me, I have three approaches to my life; intrapersonal, interpersonal, and ethical factors. These factors help me see and comprehend the world I live in; as well as those around me and where I stand amongst them. I must first understand myself and accept my imperfections before I can truly see where and who I am amongst others in this world. Once I’ve accepted my own relationships with myself I can then begin to realize and accept the vast differences of people and their different views of life. In addition, I must accept and acknowledge the differences and that not one person is similar, nor are they alike. I understand the fact that we all have our own views and perspectives of life. In my opinion “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend” translate directly to, ‘you must understand those around you as well as yourself in order to truly see the world and your surroundings for what they truly are. You must also understand the differences and each unique qualities of another person. You must also not be ignorant and accept that you have yet learned about the world around you. You can only truly see the world for what it truly is once your mind is prepared to comprehend what you understand.’
