Adam Mitchell Lambert was born on January 29th, 1982. With blond hair and blue eyes, he was the little miracle of Eber and Leila Lambert. Adam grew up being a healthy boy with friends and a lot of support from his family. In his years of attending Mt. Carmel High School, he participated in many school plays and musicals with the gift of his vocals. Adams friends greatly encouraged him to participate in many plays in high school and he enjoyed it.
At the age of 26, Adam auditioned to perform on American Idol. After many songs and standing ovations, Adam Lambert finished in second place behind his good friend, Kris Allen. Adam was a good sport and congratulated Kris when the announcement was made. During some of his performances, people got the impression that Adam might be gay due to costumes, the way he talked, and some of the explicit dance routines displayed on the show. Adam was very open to his sexuality and wanted his fans to know that he was, in fact, gay but producers urged Adam to hide his sexuality until American Idol was over. They were concerned that if Adam confirmed that he is gay while still on the show, it would affect the number of votes he got. Right after the show ended, Adam was scheduled for an interview with “Rolling Stone”. In the interview he stated, “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay.” He adds, “I’ve been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man.”
Adam was very comfortable with his sexuality, which is one of the reasons why he inspires me. He has taught me to not care what others think about how I look, what I wear, or what I say. As long as I am happy, that’s all that really matters. His parents are very understanding and don’t judge Adam at all. Some parents usually get very mad if they find that their child is gay. Another thing that inspires me about Adam is that he is very over-the-top and exciting. His costumes are fun, his make-up is outrageous, and he doesn’t care if people don’t like it. He, in my opinion, has an amazing voice and after hearing many of his songs and really understanding the lyrics, I am more open to sing in front of others. Adam Lambert inspires me because he is true to himself. He refuses to change to fit others likings and he is very happy with who he is as a human being.
The 1990 s saw surge of gay characters in both television and movies. From Ellen Degeneres and her character Ellen Morgan coming out under much scrutiny on the TV show 'Ellen,' to Julia Roberts and Rupert Everett co medically playing off each other in the motion picture 'My Best Friend's Wedding.' Sure, gays and lesbians have been around forever, especially in Hollywood. But never has there been a ...
