The book is about a boy and his family and all of there t rubles. that a cure over the summer in 1948. the uncle frank is acused of being a rapes t and he is arrested by his own brother who is a sheriff. Frank ends up killing himself with glass that was broken and maira dies he frank is a acused of murdering her. the reason why maria needed a doctor which frank is is becuse she was very sick and david is the one that finds out that his uncle was raping patents the family was very disapointed i think and then maria was found murterd and david acused uncle frank and he as right and he went to jail and then when he got out that is when he cut him self with the glass this is a verry sad book that is what montana 1948 is all about. also his uncle was a war hero and his dad didnt ware a badge and the gho use keeper was marie she was indian and the uncle would rape poeple of differnt nationality’s.
when everything was over everyone left that ton because of what happend and david saw maira go in to the out jose and thats when he saw the other guy frank go in the other out hou esse thats how ghe new that the uncle was the on that killed or murtreted maria so thats what the main pion t of the book was about how one family lives changed in 1948 over that summer becuse of maia and uncle frank and the rape and mus dre and tha dad a resting him and being a cop and then him killing himself and davis no in the hole thing and then they all moved the end.
