The present paper examines accountants skills and discusses how these skills can help the accountants to help others in the community. The accountants in the XXI century becomes a very important profession, as nowadays accountants are much more of consultants than it was in the past. Also, the accountants nowadays need to be capable of locating both financial and non-financial information (Accountants) (Boutell).
In addition to these demands, accountants need to have knowledge about databases and various resources to access (Brock and Palmer), the skills how to extract, examine, and process the relevant data, and the way how to organize and analyze the obtained data and to develop effective recommendations. In such a way, a profession of an accountant gains more importance and significance than it was in the past.
It is a common knowledge that our world economy experiences tough days. The professional skills and abilities accountants have can help both individuals and business companies to survive and become more successful (Previts and Merino).
The most crucial skills enabling accountants to help businesses and individuals, include but are not limited to: the ability to critically evaluate arguments and evidence, the capacity for analysis and drawing reasoned and logical conclusions from the data obtained by accountants during the analysis; the ability to extract, locate and analyze information from various sources, to mention a few.
