Adaptation and Evolution Abstract Though the theories on biological evolution have reached modifications through the years, in order to eliminate its errors, still many people find it not so convincing. Nevertheless, these theories brought changes on how some people, especially among scientists, perceive how evolution occurred. Furthermore, the ideas of Charles Darwin regarding natural selection could lead organisms to overcome any environmental alterations in the universe in the years to come. Biological Evolution is Just a Theory For years, theories on biological evolution have long been a hot topic of discussion among scientists and ordinary people. This might be because everyones perception about evolution is affected by factors such as religion and persuasive studies that tackle such theories. As an environmental science teacher, it is hard to take either side since the things that are taught in the class are just based on the books that provide information regarding biological evolution. As an author put it, no one has seen evolution occur (Anonymous, n.d., pg.
1).
But that does not follow that Charles Darwins works were false. In fact it led to fundamental laws that cleared our perception about how biological evolution occurred. Natural Selection Could Be an Answer to Fight Air Pollution According to Charles Darwin, by means of a natural selection, organisms strive to survive according to incessant and favorable change of its environment and produce offspring that could withstand alterations in its environment (Storer et al., 1979).
The Essay on Catholics And Evolution Theory Species Natural
Catholics and Evolution One of the most important questions for every educated Catholic of today is: What is to be thought of the theory of evolution? Is it to be rejected as unfounded and inimical to Christianity, or is it to be accepted as an established theory altogether compatible with the principles of a Christian conception of the universe? We must carefully distinguish between the different ...
So if someone argues that we should not be anxious about the effects of air pollution, that our genes might mutate into a much more resistant one and we can eventually adapt to a polluted environment; such idea has a point. The annual change in influenza viruses, the evolution of antibiotic resistant bacteria and mosquitoes that are resistant to insecticides (Anonymous, n.d.) are just few examples of how through times, organisms are able to counteract environmental stress.
In the same manner, maybe just maybe, we, human beings could develop a biological system that could survive harsh environment in the years to come. References Anonymous (n.d.) Evidence Supporting Biological Evolution. Science and Creationism: View From National Academy of Sciences (Sec. Ed.).
