AIDS and Teen sKids and young adults are the fastest rising group for HIV transmission today. People are beginning to experiment sexually contact at a young age. Unsafe sex is both stupid and deadly. By deadly I mean the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
Most teenagers don’t even understand what the virus does to the body. According to a study done by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the number one killer of people between the ages of 24 to 40 is AIDS.
Considering the fact that it takes the virus an average of 8 to 13 years to become deadly, most people who fit into that category were infected as teenagers. There are 2, 184 reported AIDS cases to date for people ages 13 to 19. So they contracted the diseases before they were teenagers. Not all of them contracted the virus from unsafe sex. There are other ways to contract the virus, such as from blood transfusions and other blood products. However, according to the national AIDS hotline, our blood supply is the safest in the world.
The chances of contracting the virus from transfusions are slim to none.
