However alcohol does impair the body and mind as well as it can be addictive so therefore is classified as a narcotic. The Church s view on the consumption of alcohol is that it is not a sin as long as it is consumed in small quantities because if alcohol is consumed in large quantities than it can damage your brain, potential as well as relationships with loved ones.
Alcohol harms the effects the body in two ways, 1st it is in contact with the mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestine. It irritates all of these body parts and eventually if enough alcohol is consumed then the result is long-term pain in all of these areas. What most people don t realize is that only about 20% of alcohol is absorbed through the stomach while the other 80% is absorbed through the thing linings of the small intestine. When alcohol is absorbed through the intestine it diffuses into the blood stream much quicker than it would through the stomach. When alcohol is in the blood stream it reaches every cell and organ in the body. Alcohol basically slows down the functions of our cells and organs. Alcohol influences the brain in a number of different ways. The brain is what controls all of our senses, perception, judgment and speech. Too much alcohol does not only have physical effects but alcohol allows emotions to flow very freely because this portion of the brain is very relaxed. Alcoholics tend to have problems with their social relationships due to these free emotions. When an alcoholic comes home after a night of drinking his emotions are so mixed up that he or she will lose control and often take their anger out on an innocent spouse or child. Even the smallest things from dirty dishes to not being able to find the remote control can set this person off.
Alcoholics usually let their lives slip away. Some lose their families, friends jobs and all of their self-respect and ambition. Ironically these factors are also the factors that may cause a person to become an alcoholic.
There are many ways that alcoholics can deal with their problems. The first and most popular would be a support group known as AA or alcoholics anonymous. AA is an international group that is not restricted to a certain age or sex. It is available almost anywhere and anyone is welcome to join and it is totally self-supporting so there is no cost. Members of AA get together at their meetings and share their personal experiences with each other about their drinking problems. AA does not encourage any of its members to take any drugs that may help them to stop quitting or make a report or diagnosis about its members. The second way for an alcoholic to get rid of their problem is to have a lot of family support. When a family confronts an alcoholic and shows them that they care and do not want him or her to throw away there life then he or she may then turn their life around on the account that they are a failure to their family. Going to see a psychologist is another useful way to get rid of a drinking problem. The psychologist will help this person to bring out where their anger is coming from and help them to figure out solutions to solving what their problem is. The church is another useful solution to help an alcoholic figure out their life. The person will start to go to church and realize that there is more to live for in life then always being drunk. It will teach them not to harm their bodies or the bodies of others around them. The last popular method is to go at it cold turkey which is just trying to go without a drink naturally. If none of these seem to work then there is always medical and herbal remedies that claim to help stop a drinking problem but none have proven to work exceptionally well.

The church is totally against alcoholism. Many priests say that our bodies are on loan from God so if this is true then alcoholics are harming what God has given to them and by drinking alcoholics are destroying their bodies. The 5th commandment is though shall not kill and by drinking excessively alcoholics are in fact destroying their bodies. A lot of drinks usually leads to a lot of vulgar language and when u take the lords name in vain then you are breaking the 2nd commandment. The 4th commandment states that you should honor your father and mother and when you drink too much you lose all of your ambition and self-worth that could result in loss of job and family so you are not really honoring your father and mother by becoming a failure.
