All Eighteen Year Olds Should be Required to Perform military service We live in time when promotion of pacifism became obligatory for anyone who wants to gain a reputation of being progressive individual. In fact, many Americans politicians suggest that we, as citizens, must proud for not having a mandatory draft, as the main principle of forming our armed forces. Even in such countries as France, it is unthinkable for the politicians to expect to be supported by people if they had not served in the army. Yet, in America, politicians are being respected for not who they are, but for how appeasing their demagogy might sound to the crowd. It has been a common knowledge for millennia that individual can never become a productive citizen, unless he had spent some time in army. This is because only in army one learns how to put national interests above its own secular agendas.
We talk a lot about American nation being unified more than ever, because of the threat of terrorism, but the truth is different. During the hurricane Katrina, the majority of people who lived in the affected area, were preoccupied with looting, instead of acting like civilized citizens. One does not have to be a prophet to understand that the situation will only be getting worse, as promotion of multiculturalism and diversity gets momentum. The reason is simple people are encouraged to think of themselves as being entitled with special rights and privileges, because of their cultural affiliation, while they are not asked for anything in return. From the time they enter elementary school, our children are being taught that they live in the best country in the world and they take it for granted. Some of them do sign a contract with the army, after they reach eighteen, but they do it to pursue their personal interests, such as being able to study in university, after contract expires. But it is very rare for the young person to be willing to serve in the army, because of some abstract considerations on his part, such as defending freedom.
The Essay on American Life America People One Time
America has had its times of despair and advances but through it all we have learned new ways, cultures, and overall advancements in life. Throughout the literatures we were given to read and analyze, there were many things about American life that not only related to now but also showed us lessons learned and conflicts repeated through time. To myself and maybe others, the pieces presented to me ...
This results in situation, when American army is slowly turning into the band of mercenaries. However, as history shows, the mercenary army can only be effective while operating on enemys territory. In last hundred years, before the decline of Roman Empire, most of its citizens were refusing to serve in army. They were enjoying nice and comfortable living. Many of them would prefer to pay the barbarians to get enlisted and to do their duty for them. They had literally lost the spiritual qualities that enabled their ancestors to dominate the world. While being formally referred to as Romans, they turned into the crowd of hedonists, who only cared about filling up their bellies, satisfying their sexual perversity and their thirst for bloody spectacles, such as gladiators fights.
The parallel with contemporary America is too obvious to emphasize it. Still, we need to learn the lessons of history. One of the elements of bringing American society back to sanity is going to be the introduction of mandatory military service for men, after they reach the age of eighteen. It is now being admitted by our military leaders that American armed forces are too few and too spread out around the world, to provide effective defense. There are more and more nations that quietly work on developing nuclear weapons, which they will not hesitate to use, as their leaders are not affected by the virus of pacifism. China is trying its best to act as good neighbor, but it is simply waiting until the right time to start its territorial expansion. We are going to be lucky if it chooses Russia, as its target. Chinese army accounts for 1.5 million in peace time, with 20 million reservists that can be drafted at any moment.
The Essay on Latin American Influences on America
Latin America Latin America affects Florida, the Southwest and California in many ways. Three of the most obvious are food, holidays, and the people. These influences are mainly for the good though some can have negative influence as well. The food found in the Southwest is very similar to that of Latin America. Though some of the foods and restaurants aren't exactly the same or as good, they ...
Can we forever rely on our superior technology, which is supposed to guarantee our security? As practice shows, military technology has the tendency to spread faster than the more advanced technology is being developed. There is getting to be less and less room under the sun for all. Only the nations with strong armed forces are going to be able to survive in the fierce competition for natural resources in the future. It is not a secret that 60% of American military scientists are naturalized citizens. Most of young Americans are not attracted to studying subjects that really do matter, like engineering or physics. This is because, in order to excel in studies, one must have a strong sense of self-discipline.
But where this sense of self-discipline will come from, when our youth is being encouraged to indulge in egotism by pushers of left-wing agenda? It is much easier to learn a few catch-phrases and become public relation representative then to keep memorizing scientific formulas for six or seven years. It is only service in army that teaches young people how to distinguish real values from artificial ones and why it is important to have self-discipline. It is only in army that individual can learn how to appreciate others different cultural backgrounds, because racial tolerance can never be instilled by the mean of repeating slogans like hate is lame, we are all the same. Army teaches people how to sacrifice for the sake of higher good. Without this quality, person should not even be allowed to vote. Army turns boys into men, who know that defending America from foreign threats is their personal responsibility.
Only service in army should guarantee individual social and political prospects. This should especially be the case for immigrants, who will have to prove their willingness to sacrifice for America, if necessary. Service in Israeli army is mandatory even for women. And there is no whining in the Medias about it, because everybody understands that service in armed forces is beneficial for the draftees as much as it is beneficial for the state. This is the reason why Israel was able to beat off numerous aggressions. Nevertheless, the most important effect of citizens being required to spend 3 years in army by the law, is that Israeli politicians are not affected by spiritual poison of pacifism and tolerance, which is destroying America today.
The Essay on The Pros and Cons of Mandatory Military service
All over the world there are countries debating whether or not they should enforce a Mandatory Military Service for citizens who are at least 18 years old. This could affect the countries in two different ways. It could strengthen the country, or it could weaken it. The question is, which of the two is a more prominent outcome? Pro Argument 1 A mandatory military service would mean that a country ...
No degenerative social philosophies are allowed to be promoted in Israel and nobody gets offended. Many former beatniks and hippies, who used to spew hatred towards our soldiers on active duty in Vietnam, are now being elevated to the position of academic authority. These berets wearing Liberals never get tired of applying labels to anyone who does not agree with their philosophy, which is based on denial of objective reality. It is not a secret that they are strongly opposed to introduction of mandatory military draft in U.S. Still, they are trying to sound reasonable, while criticizing this initiative. Kimbal Ross Binder is one of those soccer moms, who think that her opinion has a great value, when it comes to discussing the issues that are well beyond her comprehension. In her article Mandatory Service? Sir, No Sir! she comes up with an absurd statement that American economy will not be able to sustain the financial burden of having an army, which will be based on the principle of mandatory draft: When proponents of mandatory military service begin to extol the virtues of their plans, they fail to see the danger to our economy.
The first and obvious problem is to come up with the funds to pay all of these young people! (Binder).
If author applied her energy to convince Liberals in the Senate to stop throwing money in the air, in order to help the needy children of Somalia or to provide welfare benefits for newly arrived immigrants, who do not even bother to learn English, our government would find more then enough funds to pay for recruits housing and training. There is no other issue can be more important then insuring national security. However, it can never be accomplished by taking civil freedoms away from citizens, as our government tries to do today. We need to have a professional army, which is being fully supported by people at home, because they had been through the army themselves. Only then, the national solidarity can be achieved.
The Essay on Mandatory Military Service to Recieve Federal Student Aid
I personally would have to agree with changing the federal financial aid for education policy from everyone can apply and receive this to allow only the people who have done military service be eligible for federal student aid. And the reasoning for this is to help discipline our youth, become a larger, stronger military and it may help our economy through the discipline people have endured. The ...
Without it, anyone can disrupt normal functioning of our institutions for days, by simply making a bomb threat. Only attainment of national solidarity with the mean of introduction of mandatory military draft, can assure that American society will be able to face any socio-political challenges in the future.
