“Books and friends should be few but good” some wise person said. In that case, I have a very good friend who shows outstanding qualities. I will talk about her three prominent qualities which are: generous to the poor, very hardworking, and supportive to her friends. First, I have to say that she is a young Mother Teresa when it comes to giving. For example, every time she walks by a poor on the street or in the metro, she always gives them a few coins. She isn’t very wealthy, but she has a valuable heart.
Furthermore, she donates money to the church, the cancer association, and the UNICEF. “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” according to Sir Winston Churchill. Briefly, she’s a magnanimous philanthropist. In addition to her generosity, she’s also a very hardworking person.
Specifically, she works 15 hours per week as a cashier at a fruit store, she does volunteering in the Jewish General Hospital on the weekends, and she’s a full-time student at Vanier College. It is hard to believe that she’s also an honor roll student. Moreover, she helps around The Learning centre when she has available time and she always helps her friends, if they have a hard time in a subject of her knowledge. Buddha once said: “To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.” To sum it up, she’s a diligent worker.

Along with her hardworking and generous qualities, she’s equally very supportive especially to her friends. Once, I had to do an oral on a French book, but I wasn’t prepared and the oral was due in two days. So, she helped me analyze the book, take out the main ideas, and write an oral presentation. I’m forever grateful for what she did and the 93% that I got for the presentation. Furthermore, she supports and encourages me in my studies.
Another good example is when I wasn’t doing so well in Physics; she explained the problems to me after school until I understood the problems and encouraged me to do the problems alone at home. A wise man said: “A word of encouragement during failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.” Therefore, she’s a very supportive and encouraging friend. In summary, according to a Spanish proverb: “Life without a friend is like death without a witness.” Her overwhelming generosity, her non-stop hard working quality, and her inspiring support are the salient traits that make her an outstanding friend as well as a person.
