The chaos of the witch trials and the accusations made were out of evil thoughts and intentions, which is ironic because they said that the so-called “witches” were evil, but were the girls not the one’s accusing the truly evil people? The girls were curious about witchcraft so they preformed what was considered evil acts by their society. They decided that instead of taking responsibility for their actions and getting reprimanded for their bad deeds, they made an evil and selfish choice to cover up what they had done by accusing innocent people of making them do the work of the devil.
The girl made these accusations for many reasons, but one is their own small believe in witchcraft. They were part of a very strict society that did not allow them to have much freedom. Their lives were pretty much planned for them. They had to be Protestant so that rules out their freedom of religion, they had to wear black and white garments (no colors) so there goes their freedom of expression, they not aloud to speak out against males, people of higher authority, or adults; these were a few of their restrictions. The way that they are brought up in this society can lead the reader to believe that this is cause for their actions, but certainly not an accuse. There is no excuse for killing innocent people for fun, and that is exactly what they did. They treated this as a game, and life is not game; life is precious.

Another reason that the girls decided to make the accusations was out of boredom. Where they have grown up they go day after day doing the same old thing. They wear the same color and style clothing everyday, they have only a certain amount of things that the can cook, so there is no choice on what you wanted to eat, and there was not very much to do there especially at night because there was no electricity. So, they decided to learn a little bit more about witchcraft because they had heard of the other colonies that were involved in it. They decided it would be fun and interesting, and definitely not boring to get them involved in witchcraft. Hopefully they did not understand what they were getting into when they first started this nonsense. But as time progressed they got themselves in deeper and deeper. Accusing more and more innocent people everyday, which ruined people’s lives and tore families apart. They started off as just innocent girls wanting to have a little fun, but they turned a little town upside down.
Not only did the girls create the accusations because of boredom, and through their enjoyment of witchcraft, but they also did it because they were greedy. These girls felt like they were that one lonely needle in a huge haystack. They felt ignored and lonely, because they were old enough not to be kids, but too young to be adults. They were confused and bored and just wanted to stand out for once and to be heard. Well they were definitely heard, but they did not have the control to shut up. They were greedy its one thing to want to stand out but another to take it to the level that they did. They went from innocent fun to ridiculous, out of control, insane girls just out to ruin innocent people’s lives for their own personal amusement that is not in any way fun that is greedy. Greed is when you think of only yourself and not those whom are affected by you.
Now the reader must decide if the girls were evil or if witchcraft is evil. Evil is used to describe actions that are absurd and morally wrong. Were the girls accusations evil, or was the actual idea of witchcraft evil? Witchcraft is a thing that you can learn about but you do not have to perform it, on the other hand, the girls not only learned it but also practiced it and blamed people for it. So is the idea evil or is the idea evil? Think about it…those girls took that extra step, but they were not prepared for what was later to come, what you have been?
