It also has affected sports today. Sports like javelin, shot-put, and discus are sports that are still played today in track and field. Those were all invented during ancient Greek times by the Greek. One last big thing that has an impact on the world today is the philosophies of Greed philosophers.
Philosophers such as Plato, Homer, and Socrates all had big parts on the philosophies we study today. One big event that occurred during Greek time was the Trojan War. This war is still taught in schools today. This tale starts off when Paris goes to Sparta and gives Helen the apple. Her husband, menelous, had a feast for him. When Menelous went to go see the king of Knossos, Paris and Helen run off and sail to the city of Troy.
But someone says that Paris forced Helen to go with him and plundered in the Aegean Sea before going to Troy. Menelous, who was the king in Laconia, he begged his brother, Agamemnon who was king of Mycenae, to take revenge. After that Agamemnon sends troops to Troy to get Helen but they come back with nothing. After this Menelous forms an army. After the army seers read the signs that Troy would fall in the tenth year of the war, they sailed to Asia Minor. But they mistakable attack Teuthrania in Mysia opposite of Lesbos.
They mistook this for Trojan territory and were defeated at the mouth of the Caicos River and driven back. Mysia was an ally to Troy. When Agamemnon offended Artemis his daughter Iphigenia had to be sacrificed to change there fortune. After they sacrificed her the Greek armies reached the island Tenedos, which is visible from Troy. Eventually they reached the bay of Troy. The Trojans had allies from all over Asia Minor and Thrace.

In the tenth year of the war the Greeks stopped attacking Asia Minor and attacked Troy. The best Greek warrior, Archilles, sacrificed twelve Trojan nobles after the battle which left his friend Patroclus. After this in the battle of Sc aeon Gate, Paris shoots archilles in the heel, the only place he was vulnerable. Even though the Philoctetes killed Paris, the Trojans still refused to give up Helen. A wooden horse was built to access the city with armed men from Odysseus of Ithaca and Menelous hidden in it.
They left the horse as a thank you to Athena and the Greeks burned their camps and sailed away as if they were defeated. Trojans found the horse and the rubbish from the camps. After they got the horse the men inside it jumped out and killed all Trojans left in the city. After this massacre no males were left in the city of Troy. This is how they won the Trojan War.
