If I took over the leadership of a company, I would choose Apple, Inc. Apple, Inc is a multinational corporation that creates consumer electronics, computer software, and commercial servers. Apple’s core product lines are the iPad, iPhone, iPod music player, and Macintosh computer line-up. I would be the CEO of Apple, Inc and change the entire organizational behavior and structure! As the CEO of Apple, Inc, I would start my new role with guiding the behavior of the managers as well as the employees in the work environment. I would be known as a charismatic and trustworthy leader. Trust is the willingness to be vulnerable to the actions of another (Mork, 2010).
I think a lot employees do not trust their leader and the direction that they are too follow. Once I have the trust from my employees, I will be able to gain their attention and focus on the company goals. My charismatic aspects about myself will also shine through and be known as a down to earth guy that anyone would be able to feel comfortable talking too. Charismatic leaders have the ability to sense the gap that exists between what an organization is delivering to its followers, and what the followers need from an organization. This allows the leader to create a vision of a future state that everyone believes will be better than today’s environment.
I would also demonstrate a democratic style of leadership as well top promote more collaborative relationships and interactive relationships that emphasize the roles and regulation less than the autocratic leader. As the CEO of the company, my characteristics play a central role in setting the ethical tone and moral and values for the organizations behavior. As for my employees, I will set the example and expect them to follow my lead. Effective followers are the most valuable to a leader and an organization because of the active contribution. Great followers have four qualities self-management, self-responsibilities, competencies and professionalism. They are also going to focus their energy for maximum impact. According to Herzberg, job enrichment or building motivation factors into a job creates job satisfaction (Nelson & Quick, 2009).

Some of the motivational theories discussed are McClelland’s theories which are the need for achievement, power and affiliation. These theories focus on personality and learned needs for the workplace.
Normally, people with needs for achievement seek performance excellence, enjoy difficult and challenging goals and are preserving and competitive (Mork, 2010).
I would use the achievement theory to motivate my employees by providing feedback on their progress toward these goals. The need for power includes the desire to influence others, the urge to change people or events, and the wish to make a difference in life. This theory is more interpersonal and is influenced over other people. The need for affiliation is an urge to establish and maintain warm, close, intimate relationships with others. People with a high need for affiliation are motivated to express their emotions to others and expect them to do the same in return. Motivation leads to positive mental health, they challenge people to grow, contribute to the work environment, and invest themselves in the organization. A rewards program helps retain employees who stay with the company because they are committed, passionate and driven, which is a direct result of feeling appreciated by their employers (Burns,1978).

The rewards program I would implement would be a team reward system as well as a reward point system. Team rewards help solve problems caused by individual competitive behavior, by encouraging cooperation, joint efforts and sharing of information. This program would be implemented throughout the company from the warehouse up to corporate. My reward would be every quarter that we meet the department (each department goal) quota, I would reward each employee with a free vacation day off as well as add points to their card. This will help the employees work as a team to ensure the quota is met! The team based reward system is best for Apple, Inc because as the CEO, I promote a positive work environment where individuals should work as a team. Teams are very useful in performing work that is complicated, complex and more voluminous than one person can handle. As the CEO of Apple, Inc, I would hope that I will influence my organization in a positive manner. Upper management plays an important role in setting the standards for each employee!
