Dear U. N. Members, For thousands of years, many different groups have controlled the land we now call Israel. Currently, the Jews control it, but the Palestinians also fight for this land. I believe the Palestinians should have the right to this land. First, the Palestinians had been living in the region for hundreds of years.
They had the right to this land. But then the Jews pushed in and using the force of Western Powers established a Jewish state. Although the Jews claim that they had the territory to begin with, the Palestinians have had it much more recently and for a longer times. Are you aware of any group of people that were forced out of their land and then came back and reclaimed the land? I’m not. Only because of Western support and sympathy was this made possible. This support and sympathy came only because of guilt created by the holocaust and the persecution by Christians in the past toward the Jews.
Since the western powers basically dominated the U. N. at the time, any opposition by Arab nations was useless. This guilt was a European problem, and should have been dealt with there, but the Western countries quickly created a state for the Jews, while not allowing Jewish refugees into their own countries. Second, the Palestinians need a land for themselves. Although many Western nations argue that the Palestinians could stay in surrounding Arab nations, it is really a rather hypocritical thing to say.
That is because the Jews created their own homeland. Why couldn’t they live in European countries or in the United States?
