Females change your selves, then males
In Robert Sibleys essay, “Let Boys be Boys”, he discusses how the feminist society tries to suppress the males masculinity because to them it seems violent. He also argues weather or not males are inherently violent. From observing the growth of any male from childhood and manhood, the fact appears to be that the male population is not inherently violent. What really makes them violent are the influences around them. What really determines the potential of males to be violent are influences such as the media, the “Boy Code” and the opposite sex.
Media, today is one of the most influential parts of our society. Every generation has grown up some what effected and shaped by the media of there time. One commonality from all the generations is the media portrays men to be violent, angry and over confident. Whether it be in music, movies or television, media gives the idea that men are meant to be destructive. They show in most movies that the guy who always gets the girl is the one who’s full of hate and eliminates his foe. Sibley also mentions in his essay the movie Fight Club, “In which young men relieve there boredom in basement fights. Unsurprisingly the main character was attractive, cool and greatly respected. Many young men could come to the conclusion that maybe its cause he is so violent. Maybe in order to be cool, attractive and respected you must be violent. Of course this is not true but to any young man it can be easily interpreted this way. Sibley also states in his essay “Some blame the a boy culture”. In ways yes we can blame the new culture of today. The video games today are so violently real an boys who play these games start at such a young age because some parents do not realize that age ratings are there for a reason. I have seen boys as young as eight playing games intended for eighteen year olds and at the same time these are the same parents which complain there son is too violent. When looking at the music industry, music most popular to boys is rap. Most rap songs are about anger, hate and hurting others. They encourage fighting, violence, drugs, money an gangs. Many people may overlook it and argue music does not influence boys. The truth is it really does.

Our society has always been built upon rules and codes which have never been written down or recorded, yet we still continue to follow them. In the male population there is a “boy code” in which boys have been taught not to show their feelings share there feeling with anyone else because that is a sign of weakness. They have been raised to suppress any emotions of shame, hurt, weakness or pain. When boys are taught not to show emotion they soon harden eventually loosing touch with them selves and emotions. That is a main factor in why females appear to be less violent than males because they have been taught to talk about their feeling. No wonder boys are perceived as more violent, most have never been given the chance to express their feelings in a healthy manner, instead they block them out. The only emotions acceptable are to do with anger and frustration, soon leading to violence. So before the female society labels males as inherently violent, they need to take a look at what pressures have been placed upon them.
Females may not believe so but they may be the ones complaining about males violent behaviour. But they also are the same reason why many act in violent ways. From personal experiences many girls an women want the “bad boy”. The one who does not care how he dresses or acts. The one who is just a rebel without any particular cause. Many females choose a male who treats them like dirt over the nice guy. Females who choose them and let them treat them that way are giving them the right to act this way towards them. Many complain when men act violently towards them, yet they never do anything about it. Maybe its because many women them selves have low self esteem. So before they worry about the males violent behaviours they need to work on them selves and some how learn to boost up their self esteem because males will treat you bad, but only if you let them.
The Male and Female Role
From a young age we are taught to behave a certain way according to our gender. Boys are taught to be masculine and that they are the providers for the family and girls are taught to be feminine that they are the ones who give comfort and emotional support; for example parents will buy boys trucks and buy girls dolls. With these continued ways of thinking males and females will always be trapped ...
Males have always been some what violent, but what makes them violent are their surroundings. So before females try to change the male race, what they really need to do is change society itself. They need to alter media, certain social rules and females need to work on themselves.
