To raise the driving age is a negative decision for today’s society. It would mean more unexperienced drivers on the roads because there would be less time to learn before they are independent. Sixteen years of age is a prime time in a persons life to get a license because they have the time as well as the proper mindset to follow instructions and learn.
To raise the minimum age to obtain a drivers licenses means that young drivers will be subjected to unfair assumption that they will cause problems on the road and that just because they are young they will be bad drivers.
The minimum age to obtain a drivers license should not be raised because those people who are older than sixteen would have much less experience. The excitement of finally getting to “go out on their own” and they’d know nothing about driving a car. Many of them wouldn’t have their parent, parent or a guardian, to teach them. In addition, parents have to be responsible for their sixteen year olds who want to drive.
If they don’t think they are mature enough to drive then the kids shouldn’t be able to. Most kids would not want the minimum age to be raised for many reasons, first is that they want to drive, but the reason most kids wouldn’t want the age to be raised it is because I know that it would end up causing more accidents on the road. Once someone is eighteen they don’t have to get a learner’s permit, which means there is no transition from beginner to an independent driver.

These people would have had no real experience on the road, and no one to teach them how to drive. Because of this it would be very dangerous. Inexperience is what causes accidents, not age. Teenagers have the highest level of hand-eye coordination because they may play sports and are generally more active than most adults.
If one decides to play the guitar when he is fifty, he will play just as bad as if he were fifteen, maybe even worse due to the lack of inactivity that you most likely had during your youth. Age does not determine the safety level of a driver.
The minimum age to obtain one’s driver’s license should not be raised because sixteen year olds have a better lifestyle and mindset to learn to drive. If the minimum driving age is raised, it will be very little different from sixteen year olds because either way they may not have very much driving experience.
Also, from the years of sixteen to eighteen, a young person’s maturity level doesn’t rise very much. So the number of road casualties or accidents is more likely to not differ anyway. When eighteen year olds graduate from school, they fool themselves into thinking that they know everything. In this case, they are less inclined to acknowledge instructions about driving, perhaps making them dangerous drivers. Sixteen-year-olds are more apt to accept advice since they are used to being in ‘learning mode’ at school.
Furthermore, an eighteen year old who is able to drink alcohol may be more likely to drive drunk or try stunts to show off to their friends, which makes them a much greater threat on the road than a sixteen year old who is still in high school. Being sixteen and having an early start to getting your license rather than finally getting it after a long slow process makes a huge difference to your life. Sixteen year olds have many more available hours to drive, therefore getting their license faster than eighteen year olds who are either working full time or going to university and busy with studies.
The Essay on Getting Your Driver’s License
Most teenagers start to dream about the day they can drive as soon as they turn thirteen. Sixteen seems so much closer once you’re actually a teenager! Obtaining the magic freedom card is an attainable dream for most, and an exciting and fearful time in the lives of parents everywhere. The stress and financial obligation of the lessons, the extra car, and the insurance are extremely high, not to ...
Once youth have completed high school, it is very beneficial for them to have a license. A driver’s license is a necessity to life as you grow older. Once one gets a full time job, without a license people would have to resort to public transport or walking. In most cases that is not ideal. A driver’s license is vital for most working citizens. Sixteen is a far better minimum age for obtaining your driver’s license than an older because sixteen year olds have far easier lifestyle to fit in learning to drive and a better mindset for accepting and retaining knowledge.
If your neighbour robs a bank, you don’t go to jail. If your classmate gets in an accident, your driver’s license doesn’t get taken away. Neither situation would be fair. Raising the driving age will punish all young drivers for the mistakes of their peers. In the country we live in the principle of innocent until proven guilty.
Those who want to raise the driving age have labeled teenagers as guilty before they have gotten in an accident or before they have even stepped into a car. They believe that just because of ones birth date, they are dangerous and must be punished by having their ability to drive taken away from them.
Those who favor raising the driving age say that statistics show teenagers are more likely to get into accidents than adults. What they don’t say is that statistics also show that men of all ages are 77% more likely to kill someone while driving than women. If people want to save lives by raising the driving age, then only allowing women to drive would be just as logical. However, raising the driving age won’t save lives. Studies show that it is inexperience, not age, that causes accidents.
Raising the driving age will just create inexperienced, accident-prone drivers at eighteen instead of sixteen. Teenagers need the ability to drive just as much as anyone else, to get to school, to get to work, to get to sports or band practice, or just to go out with their friends. Cars are necessary for mobility in this country. Taking that away is a large disruption to the lives of teenagers for no good reason. Raising the driving age will prevent teens from going about their lives and will not prevent car accidents.

Raising the driving age would not be beneficial to todays society. If the driving age was, for example, raised to eighteen there would be more inexperienced drivers on the road due to the fact that no one can make someone take driving lesson or have a beginners license when eighteen.
The age of sixteen is prime for children to achieve a good standard of driving skill due to the fact that at that age they have the brain power and mentality to take orders and learn proper driving practices. To assume that the age of a person is what determines their driving ability and skill is unfair when actually it is their experience. The minimum age to get a drivers license should not be raised.
