The use of atomic bombs on japan caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, Most of which were civilians. The use of the bomb was unjustifiable and immoral for multiple reasons. The three main reasons were that it was dropped without warning, dropped on populated non-military targets and finally used in succession too fast.
During American bombings of Japan, American planes would drop leaflets warning the people of japan, of coming destruction. However the atomic bombs had absolutely no prior warning to the people. No leaflets were dropped with the use of the atomic bombs. US military leaders had decided against a demonstration bomb, and they also decided against a special leaflet warning, in both cases because of the uncertainty of a successful detonation, and the wish to maximize psychological shock.
The second reason why the bomb was unjustifiable was because of the targets it was used on. The leaders of the bomb project wanted to stay away from military targets and strategic cities and use it on high populated cities. The reason why was because they wanted to maximize the destruction and show that this bomb could destroy entire cities as well as put in perspective the amount of death this bomb could produce. They basically wanted to put on a showcase of their new bomb and catch people off guard.
The third reason why the use of the bomb was unjustifiable was because of the time in between they used the bombs. Both bombs were dropped within 1 day of each other. I feel like the American government never gave japan a chance to react to the bomb. What if they wanted to surrender after the first bomb? The second bomb would have been unnecessary then. What we should have done was dropped the first bomb and see the reaction of japan over a longer period of time. Allow japan to review its options and possible surrender. Instead we dropped bombs one after another and even had a third on the way before japan surrendered

Those three reasons are why I think the American use of Atomic bombs were unjustifiable and devilish. Some people may say that the use of the bombs saved millions of our soldiers’ lives but we would have never known the true number if we didn’t drop the bomb.
