Diplomacy There were many reasons for WWI. There was the assassination of a European archduke and many building rivalries between most of the european countries. Italy, Russia, France, Austria-Hungry, Germany and England all sought the goal of acquiring new market and establishing global empires. Russia had already had influence over Manchuria and hoped to take control of Dardanelles and Bosporus.
In the year of 1908, Russia had been called upon to bail out Serbia after Austria-Hungry had annexed Bosnia-Herzegovina. Russia just turned their back and denied the help to Serbia and there were two reasons for this. First, Russia had just ended the Russo-Japanese War and had no room in their budget to help out Serbia. Second, They had already secretly made a deal with Austria Hungry to take Bosnia-Herzegovina in a trade for the Dardanelles. When the Russians found out that Austria-Hungry had double crossed them and went ahead with their move before they could take part in the deal they became furious with Austria-Hungry. Because of this, Russia left the Three Emperor’s League.
This league consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungry, and Russia. After this occurred, Germany and Austria-Hungry formed a triple alliance with Italy. In 1890, Russia formed an alliance with France because they were afraid of being attacked by the triple alliance. A few years later Russia and France would allie with Great Britain to form the Triple Entente. The big day for the Russians came on July 30, 1914 when Czar Nicholas II ordered Mobilization of his troops against Austria-Hungry and Germany. Russia decided to make their move when Austria-Hungry attacked Serbia.
The Term Paper on Austro Hungary War Germany Serbia
The controversy, as to what extent Germany played in determining the outbreak of the First World War, is one that has caused debate amongst prominent historians. The First World War was started by many underlying factors such as imperialism, nationalism and the forming of diplomatic alliances, culminating in the outbreak of hostilities on the 28 th July 1914. The question is were Germany the main ...
England and France decided to support Russia in their war with Austria-Hungry. In the first few weeks, The Russians took Germany and Austria-Hungry by surprise and invaded East Prussia from both the south and the east. Then the Russians were beaten senseless by the Germans at Tannenberg (Poland).
In this battle alone, the Russian casualties reached 120, 000. The assassination of Czar Nicholas II and his family cleared the way for Lenin to be in Control and take Russia out of the war. In the Game Diplomacy, Russia had the strategy of the normal beginner.
Don’t Lose! For about the first few moves we remained in safe places without causing confrontations. When we felt that we had an upper hand over most of the other countries we became more and more confident of ourselves. Instead of just surviving we wanted to conquer and rule all that we could. In the Spring of 1901 we played it safe by moving a fleet to Romania, and army yo Sevastopol, and army to Silesia, and a fleet to the Gulf of Bothnia. Then in the fall of 1901 we moved the fleet in Romania to the Black Sea, the army in Sevastopol to Romania, the army from Silesia to Berlin, and the fleet from Bothnia to Sweden.
As you could Probably tell, in the spring our strategy was to expand but the expand cautiously. Then in the fall we started to capture near by stations and expand more towards the north. It payed off because we took control of most of the north later in the game with this one year. In the spring of 1902 we started out with seven game pieces.
We had won a new fleet and two armies. This came in good fortune when we now had a fleet in the Black Sea, Gulf of Bothnia, and Sweden. Also we had an army in Sevastopol, Galicia, Silesia, and an army attacking Berlin from Serbia with support from a fleet in the Black sea. Then in the spring of 1902 a fleet and army attacked Bulgaria while Denmark was taken and everyone else stayed the same or went to a neutral spot. In the Spring of 1903 I failed to hand in my movement sheet which set us back a tad. It didn’t really kill us but we could have done many good things with that one move.
The Research paper on Army Crew Team Case Analysis
Colonel Stas Preczewski, better known as Coach P., was the coach of the Army Crew Team for the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was responsible for managing two teams of rowers for the 2000 meter race. They were the Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV) teams and consisted of eight rowers per crew. The 2000 meter races are considered to be very rigorous and could also be compared to ...
In the fall of 1903 we had two fleets supporting each other in Denmark incase of an attack which could then be turned around and we would be able to conquer an army or fleet who tried to mess with me. Our other fleet stayed put while one army supported Austria-Hungry in their attack on Munich. The other three armies moved to close by cities which were not supply stations. This move was a big turning point in the war for Russia because we gained a fleet and two more armies. In the spring and fall of 1904, Russia pretty much moved through the north and took over a few cities / countries while it gained alliance with Austria-Hungry in central Europe.
With their help we were able to attack and take many more supply stations in 1905 when we broke our alliance with Germany and destroyed them. We were never really allied with them in the first place. They assumed that we would be faithful to them because they were allied with Austria-Hungry and so were we. I guess you should never assume in a time of war. When the spring of 1906 rolled around we had acquired a total of three fleets and six armies.
I thought that I was only being weighed down by my friend Austria-Hungry. I had to let go and say goodbye to the alliance. I didn’t want to attack them right away so I just fooled around in their territory for the spring and fall of 1906. A simple ‘Don’t worry about it I know what I’m doing’ would blind Austria-Hungry of my betrayal. In the spring of 1907, Austria-Hungry realized what I was doing and had nothing left to fight me with. As I had an army set up in Berlin, Holland (supporting Ruhr), Bulgaria, Kiel, Berlin, and Prussia, they were no match for me.
Not to mention the fleets in Denmark, Sweden, and Romania. In the fall of that same year everyone had stayed put while the army in Serbia moved to take Greece from Austria-Hungry. Russia had ended the game with 15 pieces. Not all were mentioned before because I didn’t need to move them all in order to win. By the end of this war, Russia had won the game and taken control of all of western Europe and most of the central part of Europe. We also took over 90% of the north and part of the southwest.

We would have taken the east and more of the south if the game had gone a little further. Our alliances helped along the way but they helped the most when we squashed our allies and enemies with betrayal. In the real WWI, Russia did not have the same outcome as we did. They were caught up in the Russian revolution which pulled them from WWI. Russia Allied with France and England. This helped them attack on multiple sides of the Central Powers.
By the end of WWI Russia was poor and weak. In conclusion, the way that we played the game as Russia and the way that the real Russia fought in WWI may not have been the same. But we both fought Germany and we both maintained the west for at least a little while. It is probably a good thing that Russia lost WWI because with them winning the communist party would probably be much bigger today. Anyway, I enjoyed playing this game. At first I had no idea how to play which helped me play dumb with Kevin.
After I learned a little bit i was able to stab him in the back and take most of his land. If we ever played this game again I would change a few things but my result would definitely be the same. We will Win!
