METHODOLOGY This chapter discusses the research design, population, sample, and the sampling procedure. The research instrumentation and the data analysis will be discussed in the last two following subchapter’s. Research Design This research focused mainly on the development of a working prototype program based on the genetic algorithm concept. The sets of data used for testing are training data and will be tested with a few search results from the Internet. The population used consists of eight different individuals of length four.
Representation Scheme There will be eight different search engines represented as A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. Each individual will have a combination of these search engines, which is either A or B, C or D, E or F, and G or H. These 8 search engines will later be assigned to actual search engines based on the collected data. Due to the nature… CHAPTER IV FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION This chapter focuses on the findings and analysis of results obtained from the generated input data. This chapter is divided into two parts; the first part discusses the fitness value of individuals and the average fitness of generated populations, while the second part will discuss the findings from the results obtained from the Internet and the associations between the search engine combinations.
The Essay on Sampling and Data Collection in Research 2
Sampling and Data Collection in Research are tools that assist researchers to gather important information regarding a specific group of people (Monette, Sullivan, & DeJong, 2011). There are fundamental steps that need be followed to practice accurate research as much as possible. For example, probability and nonprobability as stated by Monette, Sullivan, & DeJong, 2011, “Researchers use ...
The three sets training data used can be viewed in Appendix B, while the samples of the output can be seen in Appendix C. Findings and Analysis of Generation Fitness The results from the program output were collected and compiled before being represented in tables and graphs. Table 11 shows the results of first five generations and the initial generation for the first set of training data. The table shows only the lowest fitness and the highest fitness in each generation. The numbers of occurrences for each fitness value are shown in the parentheses. The average fitness referred to the average fitness of each population based on the generation.
The population size used is fixed to eight individuals. The input data were evolved to 30 generations and the actual results can be seen in Appendix C… Figure 5 depicts the average fitness of the first set of training data run for 30 generations. The chart shows an increment in the average fitness of each generation. The average fitness improves drastically at the first 5 generations and the….
