Unique Place They were the three happiest days in my life. They happened over a year ago, but they are as crisp in my mind as the letters that form my name. They were the days that I walked and laid down in beauty’s arms. I actually came upon the field on accident. I was with my friend, Michael, and we decided to go for a walk on some of his grandparent’s land, which they owned in the country. We wandered all afternoon.
Hiking up a flowered hillside, climbing that auburn tree, and wading in that crystal creek. The sun was beginning to set, so we decided to head back to my car. Instead of taking the way we came, Michael showed me another way back. After climbing through several prickly fences, we came across a cornfield through which we had to cross. Instead of crossing immediately, we decided to lie in the tall, cool grass beside the first row of corn stalks. It cushioned me like feathers grew there instead of the green pasture.
When I laid my head back and looked in the sky, I felt like I was somewhere in-between a dream and reality. On one side of the field, the sun was descending in the twinkling dusk and on the other side of the field a dazzling round moon was rising. I don’t know how long we laid there like that. I’m sure that there were birds chirping and grasshoppers humming, but all I heard was silence, thicker than any noise, and all I felt was the breeze caressing my face. It’s amazing how Mother Nature can open her hands and drop beauty on this world for only certain people to see. Long after the sun had laid itself to rest and the moon had risen to spotlight upon us, Michael and I rose and placed one foot in front of the other to make it back to my car.

I went back to the field in my next two days off work. Each time was magical and an inspiration but none of those other days compare to that first moment I saw beauty in the purest form.
