Unity is generally known as the united of different social and cultural backgrounds, into one physical entity. National unity is one of the targets of government policies in task to promote the greater integration amongst different race, different background of country’s committees. The unity of the country will be exist when the sharing of power, a democratic government sound economic distribution and cultural tolerance were found. For example, in Malaysia, to unite Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah into one federation and one country is an effort to achieve the national unity.
Integration is process to unite groups of different backgrounds into one entity bounds of common norms. As we known, Malaysia is a country which is own by different kind of cultures, races, and different backgrounds. The process to unite the various forms of differences between different background, religion and cultural into one common identity by put aside the differences of the origin form of them we call as national integration process. Amalgamation is the process of combining and uniting multiple or various entities into one form of entity. Amalgamation is different when compared with assimilation. Assimilation is a concept of process to make non Malay to Malay identity. While, amalgamation is process which is adopts different cultures and bring them together in one nation path. It will dispose old concept or old believes, of being individual Malays, Indians, and Chinese and whatever, and becoming Malaysians and also being to accept all those cultures and practices as their own ways.
When we thought all of these concepts is impossible to happen, but nowadays, the amalgamation concepts are running without being known. For example, Malays or Chinese are hang out or hang around in Mamak stall. It is normal phenomena that happen now. It is possible and happens every day. Pluralism is subjective and can being used in different ways. In Malaysia, generally the culture pluralism is being practice. This culture pluralism is a process which smaller groups within a larger society maintain their unique cultural identities, and their values and practices are accepted by the wider culture provided they are consistent with the laws and values of the wider society. Culture pluralism is differing from multiculturalism which lack of dominant culture requirements. Pluralism will exists when a society tolerates the continued independent existence of minority culture.
Cultural pluralism, which is metaphorically compared to a mosaic or a salad bowl, does not attempt to cast all people into the same mold but grants cultural independence to minorities within the framework of social and political conformity.
