04/02/02 Phillip Kelly Bathroom Project Critique The class project for my Art Studio/Design class is to redesign the bathroom on our floor. We have to work as a team to simulate the conditions in which a real design team (mainly architects, constructors and designers) would go through when working on such an endeavor. The aim of this project is to create compelling sketches of what our ideal bathroom would look like while sticking to the original floor skim. In the following paragraphs I will take the point of view of someone who is viewing our work for the first. My critique hopefully will point out the major areas where our work is lacking, so that we can possibly make some adjustments down the road. When I first saw the sketches there was no doubt in my mind that artist’s who made placed a significant amount of time and skill to contribute to the project.
I could not help but notice that there was a lack of uniformity, the placement of the sketches did not seem coherent with each other. The sketches began (from the left to right) with the former floor plan and the new design, followed by the sink, wall pattern, mirrors, fixtures, ceiling, bathroom stalls and finally the floor plan for the lounge area and some furniture. From the order I just described above it would seem that it is fine, and follows a normal order of sequence. The problem does not lie in the sequence but rather the overall feeling of flow between each other.
I notice that there is not title or some sort of reference as to what the sketches were trying to accomplish. I felt left out in the limbo trying to make sense of what it all stood for. I think that there is a need for a title above the work and references that indicate what is the purpose of the exhibition. When I first saw the sketches it seem like different projects rather than a combine effort. The reason why it that they were different projects altogether it is because it seem like there were a whole range of different materials and approaches used. This hurt the overall presentation because some the sketches seem more appealing than others; If one were to compare the wall pattern sketches with another section of the project the ladder would seem to be less appealing.
The Essay on Web Site Copyright Works Design
Copyright comes into effect immediately, as soon as something that can be protected is created and "fixed" in some way, e. g. on paper, on film, via sound recording, as an electronic record on the internet, etc. It is a good idea for you to mark your copyright work with the copyright symbol (c) followed by your name and the date, to warn others against copying it, but it is not legally necessary ...
The different techniques and and choices in paper, color, and size seem to be conflicting issue. The purpose of this argument is not to take created away from any of the artist but to point out the wide contrast between each work. After visiting an art exhibition on campus a couple of days back I could help to notice that each one of the pieces were in cased in a frame or their backgrounds were of a contrasting texture than their surroundings. Maybe it would help if each sketch were framed on enclosed in a matching material. I believe that this would bring much needed order to what seemed like chaos. This were my though on what I believe our entire presentation looked like at hind’s view.
It would logical that if we are indeed going to make this a permanent landmark of our work that some serious modifications should be done. Overall I think the outcome of a project that involves so many individuals was somewhat good if not respectable. Though I urge ourselves to work on some of the set problems our presentation as, for it is a group effort after all. My personal opinion in respect to this project is that it should ” ve been an individual effort rather than a joint venture. The student in our classroom posses a wide range of skills and visions that more than often conflict with each other. I strongly feel that we needed a bit more guidance in this endeavor..
