I will be discussing the topic with you “beauty lies in the eye of the beholder”. The statement suggest that we as people have a personal opinion on how we view people simply based upon their appearance, it clearly points to the fact that as individual people we find beauty in different things. I will now go into further detail to try and offer you a better understanding of this phrase. The concept of beauty has evolved from era to era as the world changes the influences on this subject has also.
Examples of those who have played a role when defining what is classified as beauty is Marilyn Monroe who throughout the late fifties and sixties, was a massive fashion icon for women , and is still today. Also in this statement the word eyes has been used figuratively, to represent the mind and feelings of the person seeing it. It is displaying that a person may be influenced dependant of their personality, the country one lives and the culture she or he believes in.
Beauty has always been the key to unlocking new doors to life it has always played a major roles on our relationships and the views held upon people. Some people are willing to go to extreme extends to try and achieve the look that is classified as beautiful. Social media is most definitely impacting our society and pressuring many to try and pursue perfect beauty. Plastic surgery today is an example of the extreme extend that those go to, that people are willing to put themselves under the knife in attempt to fulfil their desires has gone one step to far.

These types of surgeries are taking place more and more times every year, and are not always turning out as planned this is why that the perception on the way some view beauty has to change. But what we forget is as we begin to grow older our outer beauty begins to diminish as wrinkles appear along with blemish and what is left is the genuine beauty is obtained within the inner soul.

I highly agree with the statement beauty lies in the eye of the beholder , but I also feel that many aspects of our life contribute to how we can view a person or an object, that our elders, social environment and the media has, and always will, dominate our final decision. But Beauty is something that is subjective and is most certainly obtained in the eye of the beholder.
