I am here to tell you about this fascinating story that is very hard to believe. I am going to warn you ahead of time that this may seem far fetched at times, but just use your imagination and let you r mind wander. This little story begins about two months ago. I was staying at a small villa just outside of a tiny village in Northern Italy. I was staying at this villa for only 14 days. I was there as part of a broad learning program on Italy.
I was happy to go because it gave me three credit hours. Little did I know this trip would change my life forever. The event that changed my life began one perfect summer night in Italy. I had just finished a huge meal of Mediterranean delight. After dinner I went down to the coast of this little down to walk along the shore. I came across some old fisherman.
They were sitting around a dim fire talking about the good times they had in their youth. They invited me over for a drink and conversation. I obliged them then, I obliged myself with their wine. The conversation changed a little and they began to talk about myths and legends. One myth was about a forest about 13 kilometers away. This forest was said to have a enchanted cavern in the middle of it.
I asked in my broken Italian, what was so enchanting about a cavern in the forest. The men continued to tell me that men and women would come and go from the cavern dressed in odd clothes. Some of the just vanished into the forest while others just stayed inside and talked to one another. I just couldn’t believe this tall tale.
The Term Paper on Victorian Period – a Time of Change (1837 -1901)
“All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their own peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their own peril.”–by Oscar Wilde, Preface, “The Picture of Dorian Gray” The Victorian Period revolves around the political career of Queen Victoria. She was crowned in 1837 and died in 1901 (which put a definite end to her political ...
I had a few more goblets of wine and continued on my way. On my way home I began to feel the effects of the homemade wine and began to feel light headed. By the time I got back to my villa I began to stumble a bit. I stumbled up the stairs and straight to my room. As I began to flop on the bed I tripped over myself and landed flat on my face. The impact of my head hitting the wood planked floor knocked me out.
When I woke up from my minor concussion I looked around dazed by the amount of blood on the floor. I went to get a towel to clean up the blood. When I got back I notice that the blood was seeping through the cracks of the one plank of wood on the floor. I thought to myself “surely the amount of blood would have filled the cracks of a normal floor.” So I went to my bag and grabbed my trusty knife and pried up the nails of the wood plank. I then removed the plank and to my surprise a small box lay inside the hollow floor. I opened the box and removed a map.
Instantly I remembered the tale of the enchanted forest. The next day I was off to the forest. The map was so detailed as to where I needed to go and what markers to look for. Sure enough, after a mornings hike I came up to a faint cut out of a lodge of some sort. I began telling myself this can’t be real. The forest began to get dark as the trees covered the sunlight.
I walked slowly and cautiously up to the door of the cavern. I opened the door slowly and peaked my head in. It seemed like a lively environment so I went inside.
