1. What is blood transfusion?
Blood transfusion is a process of transfer blood from one person to another person’s circulatory system. In some occasions blood transfer can be a life-saving situation when a person has lost a lot of blood in a trauma or in a surgery. ‘Blood transfusions are very common but sometimes it can go wrong when it is not well done. During the process of a blood transfusion a needle is inserted in a blood vessel to put in some healthy blood. This procedure normally takes from 1 to 4 hours.’1 ‘People who suffer from certain diseases need to have blood transfusions frequently.’2
2. Under what circumstances do doctors suggest giving a blood transfusion to a patient?
Normally people need a blood transfusion when they have lost a lot of blood in a surgery. ‘A person also may need a blood transfusion if he has an infection disease which stop your body from producing blood or if you have a illness that causes anemia or cancer.’1 A blood transfusion is also necessary if a person has an accident and loose a lot of blood.
‘You may need a blood transfusion operation if:
* Injury
* Major surgery.
* An illness that causes bleeding, such as a bleeding ulcer.
* An illness that destroys blood cells, such as hemolytic anemia or thrombocytopenia.’3
The Essay on Beliefs About Blood Transfusion Wts Jehovah
Beliefs about blood: Blood Transfusion: They refuse to accept blood transfusions and do not allow them to be given to their children. This is based upon four passages in the Bible which prohibit the consuming of blood: Genesis 9: 4 'But flesh (meat) with... blood... ye shall not eat' Leviticus 17: 12-14 '... No soul of you shall eat blood... whosoever eat eth it shall be cut off' Acts 15: 29 'That ...
3. What problems might occur before, during and after a blood transfusion?
Before you get a blood transfusion, your blood is tested to find out your blood type.
And the blood you will get in the transfusion is tested and label to make sure it matches your blood type. To keep blood safe, blood banks carefully screen donated blood.
‘The main risk of a blood transfusion is to get the wrong blood type. But it is very rare to get it wrong. This only happens 1 out of 14,000 blood transfusions. For a safe blood transfusion some people bank some of their blood a few weeks before the need of the transfusion. So if blood transfusion is needed during a surgery people can receive their own blood. This reduces the risk of disease reaction from donated blood. If you have too many blood transfusion you may get some problems from immune system’s reaction.
A reaction happens when the body rejects the new blood. Tests can help avoid this.
A mild allergic reaction can occur even if the correct blood type is giving. Signs of a reaction include:
* A fever.
* Hives.
* Shortness of breath.
* Pain.
* A fast heart rate.
* Chills.
* Low blood pressure. ‘3

ETHICAL-
I think that kids should not have the right to choose if they want or they do not want to have a blood transfusion because they are not mature to say yes or no to a such important thing.
If it is a situation of life or death and they want to die in the name of their God it is totally wrong because they don’t even know if God really exist. For adults I think it is different because they know very well what are the consequences of not doing a blood transfusion, and what are by doing it.
But if you are really ill and you have the right to choose I would choose do it because we are very lucky to have such medical procedure to a good life, but if you have a miserable life maybe most people would not do it in order to die and don’t suffer more. A blood transfusion can be very expensive and if you are poor and you don’t have money to pay it then you will have to work hard to pay back what you own the hospital’s and if. So it is a very hard decision to make.
The Essay on Blood Transfusion 2
The purpose of this module is to teach the clinical RN the basics of blood, how to administer a blood/blood component transfusion safely, and the hazards of transfusion related to blood administration. This module is indicated for teaching purposes based on the fact that the NHS requires at least quarterly review of blood usage, oversight of blood transfusion practices, documentation of blood ...

Cultural-
Culture is also a very big issue in saying yes or no to a blood transfusion. I mean that if your culture has something against it or does not let you have operations such as blood transfusions then it is also a big issue.
As a kid I think that if your are part of one of those religions you don’t really believe it because you are still a kid and normally kids don’t believe in gods, at least I have some questions about Jesus. So they don’t need to follow all those rules that their culture tells them to. But in case of adults it is different because adults take it much more serious these things of culture. In this case parents should choose for their kids.

5. What alternatives are there to blood transfusions?
‘Many people can avoid blood transfusions because of religious reasons, of health reasons or even just to avoid blood transfusions consequences. There are other alternatives to a blood transfusion:
-BLOOD SUBSTITUTES: There are still no substitute for human blood, but researchers are developing a liquid that is able to carry oxygen and replace the poor blood by rich blood. This is such for a short period of time, in certain important situations. Products which are being tested include hemoglobin-based oxygen carries and perfluorochemical compounds. These products do the job of the red blood cells , such as carrying oxygen to tissues, but it does not work perfectly and exactly as the real human blood cells. The oxygen carrying compounds which are being tested have not been approved yet.

-INTRA- OPERATIVE OR POST-OPERATIVE BLOOD SALVAGE: When patients get surgery sometimes they will need a blood transfusion because they have lost a lot of blood during or after the operation. This lost blood can be saved by collecting it with a machine and putting it back into the person’s body. This is good. During cancer operation, studies founded out that there were tumor cells in the blood that was collected, so this is something that can only be done to some certain people and situation.’7
The Term Paper on Should religion restrict blood transfusions for their believers
Over the centuries, there has been constant debate regarding the prohibitions outlined by religious denominations specifically Jehovah Witness who have held their grounds with regards to refusing the use of blood in the treatment of Witnesses thus causing so much uproar in medical circles; some doctors cry out that this request, ties their hands when it comes to offering healthcare services to ...
Are blood transfusions still an acceptable form of medical procedure?
‘You can still have a blood transfusion but now it is not really relevant because there are many other ways of replacing the blood lost. Now blood transfusion are done as optional treatments and in emergencies because it can harm people and if it really goes wrong you may die. So now people don’t really do it, it is very rare. Especially the blood transfusions which are with red blood cells have been proved to be critical because it has a big rate of deaths.’9
