Boxing is one of the first sports disciplines, known by the humankind from the beginning of the world history. The fundamental idea of boxing is borrowed form the nature. It is one of the basic instincts o every leaving thing to determine the strongest and fastest specimen in any particular group, the specie, which can become the leader for the rest. Bxing as the sprt started thusands f years ag, it grew and grew in ppularity until it reached its peak in the 1930s. Bxing was ne f the mst brutal sprts ever played. Bxing used t be played by tw men wh wuld stand n large flat stnes and thrw punches at each other until one was knocked unconscious, after one was knocked down the opponent would continue to beat away and the helpless man until he was dead.
Later in the years people started to put spikes on their gloves so the game ended faster (Denzar Group).
There are many disputes present in the society about boxing nowadays. Several of lethal accidents, which happened during the history of the boxing, together with growing of overall unethical behaviour of the sportsmen towards their opponents (recall the issue of mr. Tyson biting Hollyfields his partner in one of the fights ear) causes the society to break into two parts, each one having own thoughts on the issue of banning boxing as violent and deadly entertainment. Back in his days Muhammad Ali asked: Shuld planes stp flying because peple die in a crash? Shuld they stp all cars because peple die in them every twenty-fur hurs? Because a bxer gets hurt, shuld they stp bxing? That wuld be crazy. My position is that boxing should not be banned and, as I think, in order for us to determine if boxing should be banned we need to find out whether boxing is a sport or a type of entertainment? If we find boxing to be sport, than it has all the rights for the existence.
The Essay on Should Boxing Be Banned 2
Recently there has been a debate on whether or not boxing should be banned. There are people who agree with the idea of boxing being banned and claim that it is dangerous and life threatening. However, there are others who disagree and argue that there are more dangerous sports. This issue could lead to unexpected consequences, such as boxers having brain injuries. I believe that boxing shouldn’t ...
Boxing is perhaps the most brutal activity considered to be a legal sport, and numerous activists seem to enjoy nit picking at the extreme or borderline activities like this, and then try to boycott them. Whether they likes it or not, boxing is a sport as it falls under the appropriate conditions, rules, and requirements to be one. A sport is defined as An activity engaged in for amusement and exercise. Individual sports are further defined by overlaying conditions: 1. A contest between two or more parties requiring strength, power, agility, and intelligence, 2. watched by manyat the venue or on a form of mass media 3. monitored or regulated by game officials; there needs to be a neutral arbiter of the rules, 4.
the winner or champion (singular or collective) is the one with the most advantageous score, 5. must be or have a competitive aspect. A sport has a goal; to win, rather than as a part of another profession/activity (so a sale incentive scheme or the ballet isnt a sport).
A sport involves, or in some cases, features some physical aspects rather than a test of pure cognition (excluding chess).
A sport will always have codified rules known to all participants. Sports are arguably all derived from some kind of common human activity. For example: hunting, fishing, running, and swimming derive from primitive every day life.
Riding, shooting, throwing, and archery derive from early military practices. Boxing, wrestling, and jumping derive from spontaneous challenges/hostilities that are encountered in human interaction. Boxing, as we can see, quite easily falls into (or forms) a major category of sports. As noted above, boxing contains all the needed major elements to be a sport-which is really a form of entertainment, not only for the spectator, but arguably for the competitors too. Its not like theyre forced into boxing, they arent forced to take on this kind of profession like a slave. Boxing has saved kids from the ghettos even.
Boxing matches are monitored by umpires/referees and judges (officials).
And definitely, boxing contains rules, competition, physical and some mental aspects (agility, strength, endurance, control, determination, wits, reflexesjust to name a few).
The Essay on Sports Activities at School
Introduction The aim of this report is to analyse why so many students aren’t motivated to do a lot of sports activities at school. A number of students and teachers were interviewed and their suggestions for changes to the methods are summarised. The problem * There aren’t a lot of different sport activities offered at school There don’t seem to be a lot of sports that can be played at school. ...
Boxing, like all sports, includes of course, a goal. Everything has a point, after all. Boxing main point isnt necessarily to knock the opponent out, but to attain a higher score than your opponents by landing more successful (and legal) blows to the allowable hit zones (namely, the head, torso, upper arms: anything above the belt.).
Boxers dont actually have to hit each other in the head. Delegates at the World Boxing Convention (WBU) said that people who support the idea of banning boxing are only looking at the bad side of boxing and, furthermore, not all boxers go for the head in their fights.
WBU official Dr. Michael Schwartz said that the banners were spearheading a campaign in the U.S. to have boxing banned. Most of their assertions were negative, superficial, and sensational. He also said that there had been man great boxers who had fought more fights than Ali, and still dont suffer from any of the mentioned mental illnesses. He also reminded that there are plenty of people who have never thrown a punch in their lives that suffer from Alzheimers. He also mentioned the addition of ringside physicians given the authority to stop matches in progress makes the sport far safer (World Boxing Association).
Boxing matches deemed unsafe can be halted to prevent serious injury. It does seem unappealing receiving repetitive blows to the stomach, chest, shoulders, and head, but neither is it appealing to be tackled, fatigued, bruised, sprained, scraped, twisted, tripped, or broken. These injuries are all present in sports and in some cases; these injuries can be more common (and far more dangerous) in ball-oriented sports than in boxing! With the two major points stated above (what a sport is, and what boxing is), its safe to say that boxing is a sport. It should also remain a sport, regardless of how brutal it may seem. A number of boxers may suffer from brain damage as a result from boxing (although this is difficult to prove, but this will at least be acknowledged), but there are far more people who suffer from the same things, for a variety of different reasons and sports. If brain damage were really being caused from boxing, and if boxers were actually concerned [enough] about it, then they should be the ones to speak up about reforming the game themselves.

So what does this all mean? Boxing is a sport, it should be a sport, and it always will be a sport, unless if sports in general is changed–which is very unlikely to be even possible.
