So it was with us Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee tries to tell a story of the american west from the perspective of the american indian. That is what makes it such a good book it supports the indian cause.
This is done through autobiographies and first-hand accounts. Each of the books nineteen chapters deals with a certain tribe, battle, or historical event. The author goes into explicit detail throughout the books nearly 500 pages. Some people may say that the book is boring and like a text book, in some parts of the book it was. But I disagree the book is a good way to learn about the terrible genocide that native americans Brown included, songs, pictures and quotes throughout the book. They are very important to break the sometimes boring page after page of text.
The portraits, quotes and songs were placed well in the book helping you visualize the place and time in history. Bury My Heat at Wounded knee helps us take a look at our past. It forces us to look at the Dark side of our American history and the length white men went to fulfill the christian manifest destiny. With the exceptions of a few soldiers and civilians, the white man was portrayed as the slayer of the indian people. They killed indians regardless of age or sex, often scalping and mutilating the bodies. They would even go as far as cutting pieces off the dead bodies off.

These bizarre and shocking stories give the reader a horrifying view of Bury My Heart at Wounded knee was at times hard to read. The language that Brown Used was difficult to understand. At times had no clue what he was saying. But I would Recommend this book to anyone. The only thing I would complain about would be the Techniques and vocabulary that the author used in this book, but other than that was one of
