I decided to go back to school and attend college at this time of my life due to my own selfishness and greed. I love the law and have always been curious about the system and how it works. I wanted to be someone that can make a difference in the criminal justice field. It didn’t matter if it was a policeman, sheriff or a prosecutor I wanted to prove to myself I can do anything I wanted if I put my mind into it. Now that I have the time and the means I would like the opportunity to fulfill my curiosity. Also, in today’s society job opportunities require a more “advanced” education than what was needed when I was younger.

Finding work for me was very difficult and stressful; I was 17 years old and graduated from high school. I went on to SCS Business Technical Institute for computer programming. After I completed the course the school was shut down for fraud, cashing checks without student authorization or signature. I worked for NY Life Insurance for 10 years faithfully until my grandmother passed away from a heart condition. I was in so much pain that all I wanted to do was get away from everyone, so I moved to Pennsylvania and became a Notary and started working for Citibank doing telemarketing. I was so good at my job they promoted me to supervisor after 6 months. I worked for Citibank for five years and moved on to opening my own computer store called hotspot computers inc. and was doing so well that I opened another two stores. I had more accomplishments in PA than anywhere else. I then started looking for something to invest my money in. I went into the car business as well buying and selling cars with a partner and opened up a car dealership called Valley Auto Sales. I now own four businesses and I am making money. Being settled at this point in my life did not give me the opportunities and experiences that I wanted, I wanted more and a college degree will alter my future and help me produce a better life for me and my family. I have a family to financially support and with a college education I will be able to apply for Sheriff or a prosecutor that is gratifying for me and that will pay me for my skills. It will also help me make a difference to the legal system. Knowing that my family and I strived for me to return to school at this time makes me proud to know they will support me on my decision. I needed to go to college to improve my own self esteem. Education today no matter in any position is a positive. I’ve learned “it’s never too late to learn”. Today’s job positions are not like years ago. Years, ago work skills were learned by eye or were inherited from someone with the trade in the family. If your father was a plumber you became a plumber. If your father was a janitor then you were a janitor. You learned from your Father’s skills. Today children have changed and don’t want to be like their parents, but because they want to fulfill their own hopes and dreams. Educational degrees and licenses that is required. Certificates are hung on the walls at doctor’s office, dentist offices and lawyers etc. to prove their achievements and successes in life for the patients and clients. I want to be in a good government job, which I can get better benefits and an extremely great pension plan.
