A charismatic leader is someone who sways followers with a dynamic, magnetic personality, usually through inspiring speeches. That person to me is President Barack Obama. During his first few months in office, President Obama not only displayed culturally sensitive and transformational leadership, he responded to various situations using different types of leadership models. In this way he modeled what has been described as contingency leadership. When traveling abroad Obama was conciliatory, humble and apt to listen before speaking. He is one of the few US Presidents that was not born into wealth. He will remain an inspiration for young aspiring leaders. He achieved the Presidency through excellence in leadership and those same leadership skills will enable him to outperform those that lack such abilities and appropriately redirect US interest both internally and abroad.
Obama clearly is a visionary with a new approach to politics. He has proclaimed a strategy for moving the country forward that is vastly different from his predecessor’s, proposing shifts in our relationship with the rest of the world and in our relationships with one another. As president he continues to provide clear views on the economic crisis, the Iraq War, health care reform, climate change and the U.S.’ role as a global citizen. President-elect Obama’s team has been carefully selected and well thought out. He has been choosing experts and strong, intelligent candidates for each position that he has filled. This shows his strong leadership qualities. But he has also used his website to seek out ideas and opinions from the average person, and to give them the chance to express their views.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Obama is playing a role of regenerative healer, he says: we are hurting, Our schools are crumbling, There are lines in the emergency rooms of the hospitals, millions of Americans are struggling with life’s difficulties such as high gas bills and insufficient health insurance.
