One of the most memorable days of my life was the Christmas of 2007. I woke up to the bright sunlight seeping through my window, and I knew today would be a Christmas I would never forget. The weather was fit for the season with fresh white snow gently falling from the sky, as I looked out the foggy window. I remembered this Christmas as if it happened yesterday.
The night before Christmas I remember sneaking down the steps, only to see my mom sneaking the presents under the poorly decorated Christmas tree, which had been messily put together by my siblings and me. Although I knew by seventh grade that Santa was not real, I knew that my younger brother and sister still very much believed in him. Not wanting my mom to see me, I quickly sneaked back to my room unnoticed. I stayed up all night thinking about all the gifts I would receive in the morning, and wondering if I got what I asked for. Desperately trying to get to sleep, I knew it was going to be a night of restlessness and anticipation.
Waking up bright and early, I hoped out of bed and rushed downstairs to the Christmas tree. Seeing that I was the only one awake at seven in the morning, I seized the moment. I began searching from present to present, trying to pick out my presents from the rest of them. Once I had gathered my neatly wrapped presents into a stacked pile, I had given each gift a quick test to try to determine if I got what I wanted. I gave the gifts the weight test, the shake test, and looked at the size of it. I even went to the extremes by making a slight unnoticeable tear in the snowman wrapping paper trying to guess what was inside.
The Term Paper on Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (promoted theatrically as The Grinch) is a 2000 American fantasy comedy Christmas film from Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, based on the 1957 book of the same name by Dr. Seuss. It was the first Dr. Seuss book to be adapted into a full-length feature film. Because the film is based on a children's picture book, many additions had to be made ...
After rummaging through all of the Christmas gifts, I decided it was about time to start unwrapping them. So, I went and woke everyone up for the joyous occasion. My mom, brother, and my sister and I all gathered in the decorated living room around the Christmas tree. The room was filled with a couple of newly lit candles which had the smell of a fresh scoop of vanilla ice cream. On the walls hung each one of our stockings, which were filled with various candies including candy canes, an apple and an orange. Sitting around the Christmas tree, my mother told us to open our presents one by one, so she could record our reactions on the video camera. Since my brother was the youngest we let him open up his presents first. Then my sister opened up her presents. They were filled with so much glee and happiness that I thought they would be smiling for days. I did not pay too much attention to them because my mind was focused on my gifts.
It was my turn to open a gift. Only having one thing I really wanted on my Christmas list, I hoped for the best. I grabbed the first gift from the stack of five. I picked up the gifts, in what I thought, in order of importance. I quickly shredded through the first two gifts, which were a sorry board game and sleek black watch. Next up was gift number three. I took a little more time with this one, but by the weight of it I knew it was not my number one gift. It was something I really wanted though. As I made a tear to the gift wrap, I saw an orange box with the Nike logo printed in white ink. I rejoiced as I ripped of the rest of the wrapping, taking out my brand new pair of grey, white, and black Nike air maxes. I had always wanted those shoes, but somehow forgot to put it on my list. Filled with excitement, I jumped up and gave my mom a tight bear hug. My second to last gift needed to be opened. I knew that my number one gift had to be coming up soon, so I continued to build with anticipation and excitement.
I picked up the gift and gradually peeled off all of the wrapping paper, exposing a box with a picture of a DVD player on the front. I jumped with excitement as I got my blue, ten inch, portable DVD player. Now I could watch all the movies I wanted, anywhere I wanted. Finally was the gift I had been waiting for almost half a year. It was the gifts of all gifts. As I picked up my final gift I smiled from ear to ear. This is the one moment I have been waiting for. I gently removed the wrapping paper, and threw it behind me as I went. What was exposed to my eyes that day made me the happiest kid in the world. I had gotten exactly what I asked for. When all of the wrapping paper was removed, I jumped for joy and ran around the room as if I was a chicken with its head cut off. I stopped and gazed at the logo on the front of the black and red box, it read PSP. I had gotten the PlayStation portable gaming system, which I had been begging my mom for. I yanked the deep red gaming system out of the box, and played god of war all day long. This was one of my most memorable and favorite Christmas Days ever. Everything was perfect, from the picture perfect weather to the best gift a seventh grader could ask for. The Christmas day of December 25, 2007 is a day that I will never forget. This memory brings back so much joy, and I hope that everyone has that special memory that they can always look back to.
