What classroom management and lesson ideas have you observed that made an impression? The classroom management technique that was the most effective in my classroom was “class, class..yes, yes.” The teacher would simply say “class, class” in whatever pitch she chose and the students had to match saying “yes, yes.” She would even jazz it up and say “classity, class” and the students respond by saying “yessity, yes.” In what way have the behavior management and discipline methods you have observed influenced you? In my classroom, the behavior was not managed very well! Students were threatened with “I’m going to call mom/dad” or “you’re going to the principals office” instead of the teacher handling the situations within the classroom. So what I can say that I learned was what not to do. I saw how these threats negatively impacted the students and did not allow an opportunity to build a trusting relationship between students and teachers. Which of these do you think you will use in your future classroom?
I will definitely use the technique to get my class’ attention. I think that it is a fun way to bring order to your class. Clinical Reflection

This course thoroughly prepared me for my own classroom! The cultural background assignment really made me aware of certain characteristics and trends of students in my classroom. Also, the classroom management tips and strategies were greatly helpful! I especially loved the idea of having “islands” for the students that cannot handle sitting in groups.
