Social Security has always been a big issue to any politician trying to regain his public image. This is no exception for Bill Clinton. He wants to take money from the budget surplus and use it for social security this is a good idea, but he then wants to take some of the money and invest it in private stocks, this is a bad idea perhaps the worst idea of the decade according to a Time magazine article. The government does not have the right to invest our money into the stock market and become a large power there also. Next thing you know the government will be using the stock market to finance there other projects instead of using it for social security. According to Davis Walker, the chief of the general accounting in the office of congress says, and I quote, There is no general revenue surplus, end quote.
Clinton has been pretending that the government is enjoying general revenue budget surpluses that can be used in a variety of ways, including helping social security. When in all reality there is no surplus just a current excess of payroll tax that will have to be borrowed back and paid to social security to help keep it alive when expenditures begin exceeding payroll tax revenues in 2013. If Clinton conceded as much and said this was money he intended to use for its slated purpose, social security, many of the contradictions of his plan would dissolve. Instead he ends up counting the same dollars twice. Clinton is just using smoke and mirrors to pass off this idea, the worst of it is many politicians are supporting him. All this is is a scheme to take the attention away from his court and impeachment trial and to gain back what little support he has left among the good, honest, hard working Americans like me and yourselves.
