College: Lecturer: Course: Date: Commemorative speech Introduction There comes a time in this life when nature offers a glimpse of its frailty. Such a moment faces us all now. As we stand here, biding our dear grandmother bye for the last time, we cant help walking down the memory lane. And as we walk down this lane, our hearts unite in one thought: that our grandmother was a true giant of her time, and that she will be sorely missed. But we also reckon on all her wisdom her priceless words of advice to the entire extended family and feel privileged to have shared a lifetime with her. Body Granny, as we fondly called her, was the definition of fortitude. Against all odds, she held up her head, even in circumstances when most other people would have caved in.
Granny lived through the dark ages when women were but backgrounds incidental additions to life, but otherwise unnecessary. She had the courage to live on through all the adversities that life threw at her, and she did so with that infectious smile that endeared everybody else. Granny was also incredibly principled. In fact, I was personally influenced a lot by her ever-consuming integrity, even in situations where everybody else was losing their heads. She lived by a set of rules, and so steadfastly did she maintain her standards that we all ultimately followed suit. In this respect hence, we all owe our present prosperity to granny.
Without her sense of direction, we probably wouldnt be where we are now. But I most fondly remember granny for her hospitality. Whenever I visited her, I would find her homestead full of guests some being close neighbors, but others would be total strangers. Friend and foe alike were always welcome at her place. And because of this, she helped spread the spirit of hospitality even to the neighborhood. By simply giving her all, granny accomplished what most other people only dream of. Conclusion Granny, we will miss you.
