How would you go about writing an essay about Contrast and Comparison? I believe it’s how things compare or differ between each other. Do you think you have what It takes do a contrast and comparison essay?
A Comparison is the act of comparing, and examination of two or more objects with the view of discovering the resemblances or differences. (http://ardictionary.com) A Contrast is the difference between tow objects either people or places. ) I believe the best comparison and contrast literary works are Death and Impermanence. Death isn’t necessary a good thing but we all have to go through it weather we want to or not. Death is a part of our lives weather it comes early or later for some people. Impermance means that the property of not existing for over a long duration. (www.thefreedictionary.com) Death’s meaning is the permanent termination of the biological functions that have a living organism. (http://en.wikipedia.org) So me being me I don’t think I would want either one of these to happen to me.
To show examples of what Death and Impermance have in common and what they share for differences I picked “A father’s Story” by (Dubos) and I also picked “Because I could not Stop for Death” by (Dickinson).
To make it easier I’m going to explain all the things that they have in common first. A comparison is that both things have people that would do anything for anybody in their lives. They live and die for the people in their lives. Plus they both have different feelings on how death comes upon them.
The Essay on Black Death Disease People Plague
Introduction The Black Death or Great Plague of 1347-1351 was not only a tragedy but also a crisis. The towns were shattered the cities were well under populated, nothing was good to eat, nowhere was good to walk it was all-unsafe. No one knew what caused this horrible disease so they had to be locked up in there houses all the time so they were as sanitary as they could get. There is a lot of ...
The contrast/ difference between the story and the poem are that the poem just talks about all the things that they got to do before death. It also talks about all the things that they loved to see on their way out “We passed the school where children strive at recess in the ring.” (Clugston, R sec 12.4) The short story tells us about young people that teach other children how to ride horses. The story tells us how father Paul doesn’t ride a horse any more like his use to in the older days. It doesn’t take much for people to get along very well and help each other out when they need it the most. Luke didn’t like to give money to people for their needs like build them buildings because they didn’t often respect him after he did so much for them. So Luke thought that he wasn’t going to just waste money on handing it to people that weren’t going to use it the right way. So he decided that he was going to help young people to ride horses and spend his money that way. So Luke decided to take care of father Paul and help him do things that would help other people. They would walk hand in hand with each other to see different things. They would also just sit around and talk and talk about whatever was on their mind that day. “It’s not hard to live through a day, if you can live through a moment” (Clugston, R sec 10.2) Father Paul was also there for Luke when he lost his children and his wife. “Father Paul told me in those first two years, on some of the bad nights when I believed I could not bear what I had to: the most painful loss was my children, then the loss of my Gloria, whom I still loved despite or maybe because of our long periods of sadness”. (Clugston, R sec10.2)
So in conclusion I think that I would rather deal with Impermanence then deal with death any day. Death is a lot to deal with and people need to enjoy life to the fullest. Death isn’t something that people like to deal with but we have to go with it weather we want to or not. So live life to the full extent and tell people in your life that you love them every day.
