As we sit in the comfort of our homes knowing where our next meal will come from, we watch on the our televisions, news of a country in Africa that is poverty stricken or a country in Asia where a person cant get a job. We watch this not being able to imagine how things can be so bad just half a world away, but we don’t have to go that far to see this. Mexico our neighboring country to the United States faces all of these realities every day. Are there not enough jobs in Mexico for people to make money? Or are the people of Mexico lazy and rather starve than go to work? Is Mexico poor of natural resources? Or can it be that the politics in Mexico is what is holding the people down and not allowing them to live in the same wealth as the United States?
In my youth I lived in Mexico and for a fact I know that my people are not lazy. Mexico is the number one producer of silver in the Americas so the land is rich of natural resources. There are also many jobs for people its just that the jobs they have do not pay enough for the people to have a good standard of living by American standards. So it is evident that the poverty that has stricken the people of Mexico face today can be blamed on the government that they have.
The population in Mexico is nearly a third of that in the United States and yet our gross domestic product (GDP) is over eight times that of Mexico’s. The United States (GDP) is thirty three thousand nine hundred, while Mexico’s is at four thousand one hundred. I could sit here for hours and write numbers that would blow you away when you see the comparison of living between these two neighboring countries but instead I will show you how Mexican politics compare with the politics of the United States and the result of the quality of living fro the peoples of these two governments.

Dystopian Societies in Literature and in Life Ever since man began making tools, he has been in search of a better life. For some it is not just a better life they are after but a perfect life. These people are in search of a utopia. Philosophers and novelist have been teaching classes and writing books on how to reach a perfect society with no grief or turmoil. The philosopher Karl Marx wrote " ...
Mexico’s government is a federal republic just as the United States. Mexico has two major parties in its government they are the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) which means Institutional Revolutionary Party. The other party is, Partido de Accion Nacional (PAN) (party of national action) this party incorporates: peasant groups, labor unions, and many middle-class organizations within its ranks. The United States is also a federal republic with two parties; they are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.
Partido revolucionario institucional (PRI) is a middle left wing party and is very similar to the Democratic Party in the United States. They support peasant groups and labor unions. Just as the Democratic Party in the United States. The Partido Accion Nacional (PAN) is a middle right wing party just as the Republican party of the United States but one thing that puzzles me is that these two parties are so similar but yet, the Green party in Mexico supports the (PAN) and in the United States it supports the Democrats.
Mexico suffers from mass corruption in their government. The (PRI) has been in office for the past seventy-one years much like the Democrats of today they will lie cheat or steal to get into office. It is no secret that the past president and their officials have stolen much of the government money. The elections in Mexico have always been rigged in favor of the (PRI) and for the first time ever Mexico decided to use officials from countries around the world to ensure honest in the voting process. This was a huge step fro this third world country that is closely following American politics with the goal to one day be prosperous just like her neighbor.
The Essay on State Of Nature People Society Rights
1. Thomas Hobbes - State of Nature- The state of nature is war. There are no morals in the state of nature, justice is non-existent. He claims that the supreme power determines justice, in a state of nature, there is no power. - Nature of Man- People are created equal, but its just a metaphysical fact, we are all equally in secure. Man is naturally bad, we are out for ourselves at the expense of ...
The year 2000 was certainly a big year in political elections for me. I had the fortune of being in Mexico for the last week of their elections and I was also present here in the United States for the elections here. In Mexico the last week of elections members of the (PRI) went to areas of Mexico where poverty is very high and the officials gave the people money to register to vote. They campaigned like this for the entire week giving away money and food and telling people that this is what the (PRI) can do for them, this reminds me of Clintons release of the oil reserves to let people know that the Democrats do good things for the people. A water main in a small city in the state of Jalisco broke and flooded the entire city. People in this city were at a high loss and the pipes remained broken. City officials told the people that the repair process could be sped up if they vote for the (PRI).
So even though the officials from around the world were called in to oversee these elections the (PRI) still tried to find a way to get the edge on the (PAN).
For the first time in seventy-one years the (PAN) won the elections. The new president of Mexico will be Vicente Fox, a Harvard educated conservative. Fox has visions of Mexico that it will some day prosper as its wealthy neighbor the United States. the irony of the 2000 elections is that for the first time in the United States we can not pick our president and we suspect (Al Gore) that the elections were not done fairly. It is very odd to see the role of these two countries being switched on them. Finally Mexico elected a president that was truly the people’s choice just as the United States has been doing for many years, and now the country that has been leading by example, is having turmoil with their elections.
How can Mexico change to be more like its world power neighbor? In the past when the corrupt politicians ran the country it was no secret that majority of jobs were given to friends and family of politicians, in this country the saying “its not what you know but who you know” held to be very true. How can people get ahead when they are governed like this? I feel that the success of the United States has come from its small government and reganomics. By taxing people less and allowing them to have economic freedom, people have succeeded financially through hard work. In the United States we often here about the rags to riches stories, this is not possible in Mexico. I think that for Mexico to change they are going to need to have the freedom from economical suppression.

The democratic government in place in the United States of America allows all Americans to have their say in what occurs in this country. Through the power of the vote, Americans can decide who they want to represent them in every level of the government. Getting elected, however, is not as easy as it sounds. It would reasonable to assume that a candidate would be elected to their position if they ...
Mexico has a lot of potential to achieve the status level that the United States has. Mexico has the North American Free Trade Agreement, which would really profit the individuals of Mexico as a mass if they were economically free and Mexico’s geographic positioning neighboring the United States, which can also help militarily who would attack a country who’s neighbor is the number one military power?
Mexico has taken its first steps towards building a great country by changing the way elections have been corrupting its government. It is now up to the new party in office to make the changes needed in Mexico’s economy so that the country will come out of poverty. Here in the United States for the first time we aren’t able to elect a president, where this puts us I don’t know! Its just a shame that in the most prosperous country in the world a president cant be elected.
