Computer Systems Push a single button and you are connected to the world. It has revolutionized our economy, culture, and lifestyle. It connects you to the world through the internet, where you can check e-mail or read the news. It also allows you to process and store important data and information.
When you think of computers you think of a variety of things, such as games, the internet, and e-mail. The computer in our generation serves as a tool to educate and entertain. The technology for computers is growing rapidly, as many companies compete to advance hardware and software. Over the past years, the battle has been between Apple (Macs) and IBM (PCs).
While both Macs and PCs make their product to suit the needs of the consumer, they are built differently. Therefore, Apples and PCs have two different strategies when it comes to selling a product. I think the biggest differences are shown in three main categories: design / style , software / performance , and reliability / cost . Apple is known best for their innovative and stylish designs. When you compare Macs and PCs side by side, you can easily distinguish which is which.
First, Apple computers are becoming more compact in size. Their new system designs include the display (monitor) integrated with the rest of the computer. The Apple’s i Mac is a good example of how compact their systems are becoming. The PC on the other hand, is laid out in separate components such as the display and speakers that you plug into the desktop. Second, Apple computers have a more contemporary look. This has proven to be a great marketing and selling strategy.
The Essay on Mobile Operating System Design
Mobile Operating System Design Mobile devices surround us daily at every step we take. Most of us now have mobile phones, Global positioning systems, hand-held computers, palm pilots, smart phones and other wireless devices. I should note here that each of these devices possesses some sort of operation system similar to that system on a conventional computer we are used to. In the following essay ...
This new distinctive look makes the computer more appealing to the customer. Macs came out with a variety of translucent colors such as green, blue, and orange. New Apple products are coming out with very clean-looking all white models. PCs, on the other hand, are usually sold in grey or black colors, depending upon the company you buy from.
I think Apple intended to make their design more like an appliance, rather than a computer, which looks user friendly and consumer appealing. Third, Apple’s design makes it easy to set up, meaning that you don’t need to connect many cords to operate the system. Easy Set up is a big plus when it comes to buying a computer. And last of all, instead of looking like a box with slots, Apple has designed computers using more shape. A good example from Apple is their latest i Mac. The design of an Apple computer is a more modern and appealing look.
Overall I think Apple’s creative designs and style have made Apple computers popular and given them a loyal customer base. Usually you don’t buy a computer just because it looks nice on the outside. The inside is the more important part. The software the computer supports and its overall performance plays a big role in the success of the product. First, PCs certainly provide more software than Macs; however, what is most important is whether the software you want is available and compatible with your system. Both platforms have their highlights when it comes down to software.
Both PCs and Macs run on a different operating system (software).
The PCs use Windows XP or office, and Macs use OS X. I think both operating systems are equally good. An area in which Macs once excelled was its graphics and video editing, but PCs have caught up with the competition. For an example, Adobe, a software company, has recently decided to release the latest version of video-editing software only for the PC.
Before, Adobe would only make their software entirely for Macs. Games play a huge part in the computer industry. Apple has a number of titles, but has nowhere near as many games as are made for the PC. PCs now out perform Macs in gaming by their graphics and speed.
The Term Paper on Why Software Systems Fail
1.0 Introduction In this report I will be concentrating on the failure of software systems. To understand why software systems fail we need to understand what are software systems. Software systems are a type of information system. This is because a software system is basically a means for hardware to process information. Flynns definition of an information system is: "An information system ...
I think Apple, in the past years, tried to build their gaming collection, to make their system appeal to the gaming community. For years PCs have reigned supreme in speed. However, now Apple is stepping up to the competition and designing computers with better speed; an example is Apple’s new Power Mac G 5. But the Pentium 4 and the AMD 64-bit processor are still giving it competition.
Both Apple and PCs are trying to show that their computers are more power efficient. Overall, I think PCs are the best choice when it comes to performance. Another strategy that Apple and PCs differs in is the cost of their product. Macs have a reputation for being more expensive, especially when they have a new product out on the market, but this isn’t necessarily the case.
PCs, however, have increased in price as the technology increases. The prices drop as the model gets older and / or when a newer model comes out. The price of Macs’ OS X is two-hundred dollars less than the PCs’ Windows XP Home. On the other hand, buying games and other application for Macs can be a bit costly for consumers. The price of the computer depends a lot on what you want to be able to do on the system.
I know a couple of people who have custom made their own computer to their specifications. Some say it is less expensive to custom make your own computer and others say it will cost more. All depends on how many things you want it to be able to do. I would say the reliability between the systems is the same for both PCs and Macs. Both IBM and Apple have a good reputation in service. This service includes warranties, customer service, and add-ons (extra accessories for the computer).
While Macs and PCs both have their differences, I think both are head to head in competition. As computers get better they will always be trying to out do each other and continually raising the bar as they try to build the ultimate computer system. I think they are both equally popular. They hold the same goal with different strategies. Computers will continue to impact our life in the future. It is important for the consumer to research and know which type of computer system will best suit their needs by comparing these factors: design / style , software / performance , and reliability / cost ..
The Essay on Apple’s After-Sales Service
Apple call center: Apple call center has 20000 telephones, is the world’s largest call center, the incoming calls are more than 1800000 every day and the numbers are increasing. It can be seen Apple’s after-sales service is also one of his strengths Customer Loyalty At a very general level, loyalty is something that consumers may exhibit to brands, services, stores, product categories, ...
