I believe the collaborating conflict management strategy is the most appropriate for the current situation with David and James. Collaborating allows the parties to bring to the table their concerns so the air can be cleared amongst the parties involved. Collaborating is all about no right or wrong and finding an acceptable solution to the concerns of David and James. It seems that the situation is like a, “he said, she said” kind of a thing and not necessarily a conflict or dispute. Collaborating assists with a, “win-win” outcome.

Compromising would be the next selected conflict management strategy that is most appropriate. Compromising allows the involved parties to bring up their conflicts or disputes with the team and has a discussion about how they can come up with the solution to the problems. Compromising to reach a solution that is mutual by all the parties involved also maintains the working relationship amongst all the parties involved. If the parties don’t compromise you will reach a dead-lock situation that would lead to a waste of company time and no solution.

Some of the potential road blocks would be negativity in the workplace, negative and poor work performance from its team members, incomplete goals, and work relationships could be affected too. Resolving conflict is difficult and each road block you encounter has to be dealt with affection so it won’t get any worse than it already is. Addressing the situation head on is your best bet because handling the situation when it first occurred would prevent the situation from getting any worse and eliminate any misunderstandings that may arise.
