September 11, 2001 will always be a day people talk about. One of the most common topics talked about concerning 9/11, are the numerous conspiracy theories. The fact that the attack could have been aided by the US government is alarming to many. Is it possible that all the evidence is just a pure coincidence? Or could the government actually be willing to terrorize its’ civilians for their own unique gain?
Whenever the first airplane hit the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11th, 2001 the entire nation was moved. Then when two more planes came crashing into the other tower and the Pentagon, the nation was devastated. It was the most fatal terrorist attack ever committed against the United Stated killing nearly 3,000 people. September 11th quickly became the biggest national tragedy since the JFK assassination. Days after the attack the theories began. Several groups of people within our own country and from other places in the world believe that there was prior knowledge of this attack. What many people believe was that two airplanes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City, and one airplane into the Pentagon. Some believe that the attacks were planned and executed by the US government. Other groups hold the idea that people knew about the attack but failed to do anything about it.
Both assume that the main reason for the United States to go to war was for the amounts of wealth to be made. The middle-east holds roughly 20%-25% of the world’s known oil supply, and if a country were to take control of such reserves, then that country would have immense power and wealth. Therefore, attacking our own country and placing blame on a terrorist organization located in one of the most oil rich countries in the world was almost a perfect plan.

The most heard about theory is that the towers had bombs in them. There are witnesses who claim to hear bombs explode as they were escaping the building. Many that saw the towers fall claim it looked like it was a demolition. There are many other theories that have a far more complex details as to why they believe the government is behind it all. For example the US government claims to have retrieved the passports of the hijackers. Many don’t believe how it would be possible for paper items to have survived the explosion. So could it be possible the government made these passports to try and “prove” there were terrorists? Unfortunately there is no way of finding the “real” truth.
So what do the people defending the government have to say about these conspiracy theories? They claim that the way the towers fell doesn’t resemble a demolition or use of bombs. When a building under goes a demolition procedure, the explosions start on one floor and work their way down. This is usually clearly visible and it is not with the World Trade Centers. The jet fuel from the plane started fires and caused enough heat to make the steel structure begin to weaken, thus causing the tower to collapse.
So once again is it just a pure coincidence that all the theories make sense? Maybe we just like to overthink things like human beings tend to do. Or is it really possible that the US government is the bad guy? We will probably never find the real truth but I guess it just shows not to have too much trust in anything.
