Due to the case of Jeremy Steinke and Jasmine Richards they killed the Richards family because they felt that they were being too harsh towards their daughter Jasmine so the only way that they could live together is that to kill her family so they could be together. Karla was totally oblivious to what was going on yet still helped get them and even kill them like her sister Tammy Homolka as Karla killed her using anesthetic she stole from her work to subdue her sister making easier for Paul to do whatever he wanted to do to her which eventually killed her.
