Vincent S. NewbillJuly 30, 2002 Eng 100 Compare and Contrast Creation vs. Evolution On November 24, 1859, a man named Charles Darwin started a controversy that has lasted to present day. His work, entitled “Origin of Species”, stated the possibility that humans were not created but evolved from natural processes. Although, he was not the first to express these ideas, Darwin’s published theory was neither accepted nor appreciated by the religious community. Creationism, as believed in religion, assumes that the creation story in Genesis is accurate; that God created the universe and all life forms (lawyer net.

The term evolution basically translates to alterations through time. These changes are slow and are over a long interval of time. Evolution states that earth was created around 4. 6 billion years ago; and that the universe is around 15 billion years old. This theory is due to many years of making observations and collecting data on various forms of science.
Using radiometric dating methods, sedimentary rocks have been dated at being 3. 9 billion years old. Researchers in many fields, from astronomy to geology, have used this method and most agree on the earth’s age and origin (lawyer net. com).
Creationist scientists, on the other hand, are often seen in public conflict with evolutionists. They use the creation story (Genesis 1: 1) and the great flood (Genesis 6: 1) as the foundations for their beliefs.
This theory states that the entire universe was created by God in six days followed by one day of rest. The order of the creation is as follows: Day 1) creation of light and its separation from darkness Day 2) separation of sky and oceans Day 3) separation of land from the oceans; spreading of plants and trees across the land New bill-2 Day 4) creation of the sun, moon, and stars Day 5) creation of sea animals and birds Day 6) creation of land animals Day 7) God rested. This is believed to be a later addition, placed there to provide theological justification for the Sabbath. This sequence of events contains obvious problems. Light was listed as being created on day one; however, the sun was not created until day four. Birds were stated as being created before other land animals, whereas the fossil record shows the opposite.
The Essay on A Day In Your Life 15 Years From Now
Fifteen years from now, your alarm goes off at 7:30 AM, pulling you out of a dead sleep. You roll over, grumbling a command, and the alarm obediently shuts up. You drift off again, but ten minutes later the alarm returns, more insistent. It won’t be so easily pacified this time; the loose sensory netting inside your pillow will keep the noise going until it detects alpha waves in drastically ...
Later, in Genesis 2: 4 – 2: 25, a contradiction is made when it is stated that the universe was created in one day (lawyer net. com).
As for the age of the universe, creationists believe that the earth is 6, 000-10, 000 years old. These individuals believe that the present form of earth can be explained by “catastrophism,” including a worldwide flood, and that all living things, including humans, were created miraculously, essentially in the forms we find them now. Upon closer analysis of the theory of evolution and the theory of creation; simple logic has revealed as to which theory has more credibility. The creation theory is based upon faith and has little, or no, evidence.
It implies that the entire universe was spontaneously created in just six days. On the other hand, the evolution theory has been researched and tested. By studying the universe through use of astronomy and physics, a feasible explanation is formulated as to when and how the universe was created. There are still many questions in the theory of evolution; however, as the human race advances in technology, more answers will come. In enough time, the creation theory will be thought of as the dark ages in an evolving society.
