Tequesta Indians, discovered and reigned the area over ten thousand years ago. That it is, until the Spanish claimed it during the sixteenth century. Ironically, in 1821, the Spanish flag was lowered and the magnifying stars and stripes of ” Old Glory” was raised soaring across South Florida. During the 19 th century, South Florida radically experienced changes.
To Illustrate, vigorous wreckers soon arrived from Bahamas, the wreckers primary focus was to hunt for the remains of an international array of ill-fated ships that were discovered on Great Florida’s perilous reef. After the arrival of the Bahamians, various others cultures followed, such as the Seminoles, African – Americans and Cuban Refugees. Today, Miami Beach is composed of over twenty cultures. The versatility is often referred to as melting pot or a salad bowl. The diverseness could possibly be the incentive behind the city’s tropical urban setting.
