There are six steps of critical thinking. 1) Remembering- how can I recall key terms, facts, or events? 2) Understanding- how can I explain this idea in my own words? 3) Applying- how can I use this idea to produce a desired result? 4) Analyzing- how can I divide this idea into parts, groups, or steps? 5) Evaluating- how can I rate the truth, usefulness, or quality of ideas and give reasons? 6) Creating- how can I invent something new based on this idea? I may unintentionally cause people upset and pain because I’m so focused on my good motive. I tend to believe that ethics is a set of universal rules that everyone must follow, just as I do. I follow the rules – everyone should. My core ethical lens would be Autonomy and Rationality. I’m rational and use my reasoning skills to determine my duties.
I prefer rationality over sensibility. I tend to use reason to find the rules of life but my actions are altered do to sensibility, being flexible as I prudently follow my intuition and heart. I favor protecting the rights of individuals and are not swayed from believing that individuals should be able to do what they believe is right even if others may disagree with the results because they may not be fair to everyone else in the community. But it does depend on what subject we are referring to. There is no universal ethic for everything. In some cases my ethics may contradict one another but there are always exceptions. Based on what was written, I’m not sure what to discuses so I’ll through a few out there. Ethics for being a father, I feel a father should give their child every to learn, improve, challenge them self’s, to have fun. A father should help their child experience and have many opportunities to give them more options for the future. A father should make time for his child and also make sure the child has nothing to worry about.
My ethics also lead me to believe that our government is in need of revising along with society. Almost everyone is me me me. Not like back when this country was founded there was more compassion and understanding in many ways. If we can blend the good qualities from both eras we can form the mystic utopia. A place where everyone respects each other, understands one another, helps each other, and are equal to each other regardless of race, religion, sex, finances, sexual preferences, be without prejudice. There are many more ethics to go over but we’ll stop here. My ethics for professional and societal responsibilities will include the following. Professional: attendance should be early or on time with a few exceptions, should show up for work when supposed to coming. Following what a manager tells you to do is important but within reason. But do what you know needs to be done or has to be do when you’re done with what manager ask.
Respect others privacy and space. Stealing from work, this depends on what’s the policies of the company are. Some cases take office supplies home is ok if within reason, like if you do a lot of work a home have some paper or writing supplies or a few thing like ruler, protractor… are fine if it for work. Also upon dismissal from job you return said items. Societal: stealing from stores its wrong but understandable under certain circumstances I believe is acceptable. Stealing to survive or provide because there’s no other option I feel is understandable and instead of punishing those people help them get on their feet. I respect authority as long as they give it. I don’t believe that you start with no respect and have to work to get it. If you give respect you deserve respect. Just because you have authority doesn’t in title you respect it must be mutual. I treat people accordingly if they treat others and me good ill treat them good. If they treat me or others bad no need for me to deal with them.
