Society believes that teenagers are today’s corruption of the world. At the odd “teen” age, people begin to explore new substances such as alcohol and drugs which can ruin a person’s life. Parents feel very strong about this issue because teenagers are the world’s future and they refuse to let the future be destroyed. They demand that the government should enforce a curfew among teens to put an end to this substance abuse but, in reality, parents are the only people capable of stopping the abuse. Parents feel that curfews for teenagers will reduce their abuse of alcohol and drugs; however, teenagers are too conniving to let a simple curfew stop them. For example, if they are friends with anyone who has horrible parents they can spend the night with the friend and abuse substances at the friend’s house.
Also, teenagers sneak out of their house sometimes and, as long as the government does not catch them, they will get away with their misbehavior. Avoiding curfew is not hard for a typical teenager. Although parents demand a curfew will reduce the drug and alcohol abuse, it is a proven fact that most teenage misbehavior occurs at 3: 00 p. m until around 6: 00 p. m.
This is true because students are out of school and most parents are still at work making money to support their children. While doing this, they trust the child to behave with out supervision. This allows them to have friends over to drink, do drugs, and other illegal things. It is possible they can get caught and loose their parents trust but a lot of times teenagers get away with it. Although curfews require teenagers to be home at night, it will not prevent them from causing trouble after school.
The Term Paper on Teenagers And Drugs Effects Of Drug
Effects of Drugs on Adolescents Drug use is the increasing problem among teenagers in colleges today. Most drug use begins in the preteen and teenage years, these years most crucial in the maturation process. During these years adolescents are faced with difficult tasks of discovering their self identity, clarifying their sexual roles, assenting independence, learning to cope with authority and ...
Because teenagers can break laws and misbehave after school, the only people capable of keeping teenagers out of trouble are parents. If parents teach children the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol, children will be less likely to abuse substances later in life. Also, parents need to know who their teenager is hanging out with. With this information, they will be more aware of what their daughter or son might be doing.
If the people are bad influences, the parents can prevent their child from hanging out with them. Parents are usually the main influences in a child’s life because parents care about their children so much. The only way of preventing substance abuse by teenagers is by attentive parents teaching the harmful effects of illegal substances to their children.
