In The Count of Monte Cristo, Dantes is in the position to act as God around those whom he is associated with. Dantes always seems to appear just in the nick of time to save people’s lives. Like When Monsieur Morrel was about to go on misery , he plans to commit suicide before dishonoring his family.The suddenly Dantes happens to show up and saves the day. Monte Cristo rewards Monsieur Morrel by saving his honor and his company from bankruptcy. He saves him by sending a letter addressed from Sinbad the Sailor Monte Cristo to his daughter Julie to go to a room and get a red purse there. In the purse they discover a large amount of money and a walnut sized diamond that ends up saving Monsieur Morrel. Further in the story Dantes becomes the God-like role of Monte Cristo. As the Abbe Busoni he then decides to save Valentine. He tells Valentine that he has been watching her room every night from the house he bought next door. He also tells her that someone has been poisoning her medicine every night, Before she drinks the medicine, he then replaces the poison with his concoctions. He tells her to pretend to be asleep and she will see the who is trying to poison her . Valentine does what Dantes told her. She then sees Madame de Villefort pour poison into her drink. The Count of Monte Cristo returns to see Valentine and she is surprised. The Count tells Valentine that Madame de Villefort is poisoning Valentine so Eduoard will receive Valentine’s fortune. Valentine then falls asleep, “an angel lying at the feet of the Lord.”
