Definition Essay
Friendship is defined from Webster’s Dictionary as, the state of being friends, or a friendly feeling. Friends, on the other hand, are defined as people whom one knows well and is fond of. The second definition states a friend as an ally, supporter, or sympathizer. My personal definition of what friendship is, is a feeling or emotion shown in a way that another feels wanted and important, a relationship between people where everyone has some companion to talk to when they are in need of one. I consider friends as people whom you can have several types of relations with and feel several emotions for that person, some of which include sympathy, trust, happiness, and at times anger or sadness. However, friendships differ between different people. For example, the friendship that a person may have between them and their parents would be different than the friendship they might have with their peers or siblings. Friendships can exist in many forms, such as, best friends, lovers, parents, siblings, and many more, all of which differ in their own ways.
Most people have a best friend, whether it is with a person or animal. Sometimes people who are lonely find that they have a companionship with their pet. But, mostly when teenagers are the ones being discussed, then they usually have more than one person they can go to and discuss life problems, school, and any other thing they need to talk about with someone. To me a best friend is thought of as a person you can go to in times of need and talk to about everything. A person can find one best friend, or many people whom they consider best friends, all with their own unique personalities and qualities, such as trustworthiness, kindness, ability to listen, kindness, and ability to give advice on stressful situation, that make the person feel attached and comfortable toward the person(s) they consider to be their best friend(s).
The Essay on Good Friend Person People Trust
Education in the Classroom, or in the Real World Oscar Wilde and Lord Brougham have different ideas about the education system. Wilde states Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught. This means that education does not teach a person every thing they need to know, a person learns from doing things outside of ...
Another type of person that someone can find a friendship in, is their specific other. When looking for a person to date, a person may look for similar qualities that they look for in a best friend. This makes a person’s specific other one of their best friends. A person and their specific other often develop a special relationship in which they confide in each other and often go to each other for many situations, whether the situations are sad, mad, or exciting times in their lives. Whether the person is a spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend, they are at times considered to be a friend to their other.
The third type of friendship could be found in your parents and siblings. In some cases, families are very close with each other, and when problems develop on one of their lives, they can turn to each other for help to get them through their troubles. While growing up with each other, siblings can also develop a friendship with each other, but whether the friendship remains stable throughout their lifetime is left in the hands of the siblings. Another friendship can develop between parents and their children. Children often become dependent on their parents while the parents are raising them, and despite the disciplinary actions or fights they may get into, a friendship can come out of the close relationship that develops from being related and being family.
As one can see, friendships can develop from many different types of relationships between different types of people. Whether it is a close friendship in which you talk every day and are a source of help in times of need, or a not so close friendship in which you talk only when you see each other a friend is always needed at one point in a person’s life. Most people have different sorts of friendships with different types of people, no matter what someone’s personal definition of a friend or friendship is. As an unknown author once said, “Embrace those who love you and whom you love.”
