Dell had to fill up his company with top professionals and visionaries that could continue the success. The company needed to find ways to stay competitive and stay focused on their vision. For a company to stay growing at the pace they were, which was about 50 percent a year in the 90’s, it needed to continue to add strong employees and keep the motivation going. In the computer market there are a lot of competitors, just waiting for someone to make a mistake. The fight over market share is very competitive. Dell needs to stay very aware of their business competition and what they are doing.
I think that Dell has done very well picking up most of the trends and consumer needs to come out with new ideas, to stay on top. He needed to fix his little mistake and he most definitely did. If we put $100 in Dell stock back in 1990, with all the splits and price increases, it would have been worth nearly $6, 000, 000 by 2000.
In 2001 while PC sales were starting to slow down, Dell continued success. Another factor to look at is that Dell’s net income (bottom line profit they took in) is below the other big competitors. Having employees is not cheap and Dell does a great job with keeping employee costs down versus their market cap, but compared to Microsoft, Microsoft does an even better job keeping employee costs low.

According to Dell, they listen to the customers needs and build off of that. I find that is important, but I think that the customers may not know what they always need. They need guidance and sometimes showing the customers what they need could lead to more profits. Maybe putting more money in research and development could lead to “that new product everyone wants.” Dell is a very large company and people rely on their products and service. Focusing on printers may definitely be what they need to do to increase revenues, but finding a new item that the consumer wants could be the answer also. If the sale of printers worked so well for HP, maybe Dell should come up with some new item that PC buyers will want.

Printers are definitely an item that is needed, but find something new. That is how Dell became so popular in the first place; they offered the consumers something they didn’t have before, top of line computers at a good price. Not everyone is as technologically advanced as the people that work at Dell. Microsoft came out with Windows and is a top selling program for them. Maybe Dell could come up with a new gadget that consumers have never seen before. I’m sure they are definitely working on that.
If Dell became an entrepreneur in technological equipment and expanded their product line with something no ever seen before could really work for Dell. They more products they have to offer the larger the company will grow. Provide the Best Recommendation Increasing their product line and coming up with “new ideas” is key. Again, they need to go back to their roots and look at what got them as large as they are today. Research and development in a technological industry is important.
